* As Ice is a strong offensive type and a poor defensive type, defensive Ice-types (Regice, Articuno and to an extent Cloyster, Dewgong and Lapras) are somewhat of an oxymoron. This is especially true of the sole-typed Regice.

Characteristics

Defensively, the Ice-type is considered a rather poor type. It is resistant only to itself, and is weak to four types. They make up for this disadvantage mostly due to the fact that most Ice-types are dual-types. While the type is lacking in resistances, it is considered the best attacking type of all. It is strong against Template:Type2s, which are weak to themselves as well.

In total, there are 22 Pokémon with the Ice-type.
