The hippie playing the Poké Flute

The hippie is a character of the day in the Pokémon anime. His English voice actress is Maddie Blaustein and his Japanese voice actor is 大竹宏 Hiroshi Ohtake. Since he was not given a name, this article will refer to him as the hippie.

The hippie's sole appearance was in Wake Up, Snorlax! While walking down a lonely road, the hippie played a Poké Flute for Ash and his friends. They were grateful to the hippie and continued along their way. He also played for Team Rocket but they were less than impressed.

When Ash and the others discovered that the town's food wasn't growing because a Snorlax was blocking the water, they immediately ran to the hippie. He revealed that the Snorlax was an old friend of his. After hearing of the situation in the nearby town, the hippie played his Poké Flute, and Snorlax awakened.

The hippie is just a regular old man in the Japanese version.
