High Touch! (Japanese: ハイタッチ！ lit. Hai Tatchi!) is the second opening song of the Diamond & Pearl series. It debuted in DP096, replacing Together2008. A remixed version of the song, High Touch! 2009, debuted in DP134, which was also used as opening song in Arceus: To a Conquering Spacetime. It was replaced by The Greatest - Everyday! in DP158.

Synopsis

Ash and Dawn glaring at their rivals

The opening begins with multiple colors shown, as well as the faces of Ash, Dawn, and Brock. The title is then shown. The trio, with Pikachu and Piplup, are now running across a grassy plain. After a close-up of Dawn, they are now on a sailboat, with all their Pokémon and Wingull above.

After a close-up of Brock, he is now seen cooking with Pikachu and Mamoswine nearby and then Pikachu and Piplup are seen playing while the other Pokémon, Ash, Dawn, and Brock are seen cheering them on. Dawn, with Piplup and Ambipom, are then seen glaring at Zoey and her Glameow and Kenny and his Prinplup while Ash, with Pikachu and Monferno, glare at Paul with his Honchkrow.

Dawn then slightly pushes Ash. Ash then gives her a thumbs-up as the sun rises. Close ups of Ash, Dawn and Brock and Pikachu and Piplup are seen. They are now seen running across a map of Sinnoh. Ash and Dawn then give each other a high-five. Then, from left to right, Delia, Professor Oak, Max, Tracey, May, Misty, and Gary are seen.

The Pokémon then are seen smiling in pairs; Buizel and Ambipom, Buneary and Grotle, Staraptor and Gliscor, Happiny and Pachirisu, Mamoswine and Croagunk, Monferno and Sudowoodo and, finally, Pikachu and Piplup. Team Rocket are then seen blasting off with their Pokémon, one by one. Then Saturn is seen sending out his Toxicroak. He is then joined by Mars and Jupiter.

In the fiery background, Cyrus and Team Galactic's Golbat appear. J, riding her Salamence, then appears with her ship behind her. Ash's Pokémon then appear and show off their moves; Buizel uses Aqua Jet, Staraptor uses Aerial Ace, Gliscor, and then Grotle, run off, Monferno uses Flame Wheel and Pikachu uses Volt Tackle. The gang once again run across the map. Regigigas is then seen fighting Darkrai, using Hyper Beam. The opening closes with the trio, with Piplup and Pikachu, posing happily.

Trivia

• This song is performed by Rica Matsumoto and Megumi Toyoguchi, who are singing as the characters they voice (Satoshi and Hikari, respectively).
• This is the only opening song of the Diamond & Pearl series not sung by Fumie Akiyoshi.
• This is the first opening Gary has appeared in since Ready Go!, the final original series opening, as well as the first that May and Max have appeared in since they left at the end of the Advanced Generation series. Likewise, Misty and Tracey make yet another opening appearance since their departure.
• Saturn's Toxicroak imitates its battle animation in Platinum after being released.
• In the instrumental version of the song, Aim to Be a Pokémon Master can be heard.
• Despite being released, Dawn's Ambipom and Ash's Gliscor were not removed from the opening animation. Dawn's Cyndaquil was not included into the opening either - despite being updated to include Ash's Monferno.
• Due to this opening carrying over into the Pokémon anime's production into HDTV, this is the first opening theme to air in an HDTV format.
• High Touch! is a playable song in the Wii game Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Do Don to 2 Daime.
• This is the first Japanese opening to feature a duet, while the first one in English being a series later, in Black and White. The first Pokémon opening in the world to feature a duet was the Korean opening Start of an Adventure, used during the Kanto saga.

Errors

• In the episode in which Swinub evolves, the opening animation replaces it with Mamoswine rather than Piloswine. In the following episode, which was originally aired in a special with the episode where Piloswine evolves, it replaces Mamoswine but then returns as Mamoswine in the following episodes.
  • This was corrected for subsequent airings and the DVD release.

2. DP101 - DP104: Grotle replaces Turtwig.
3. DP105 - DP106: Piloswine replaces Swinub.
4. DP107 - DP118: Mamoswine replaces Piloswine.
5. DP119 - DP120: Staraptor replaces Staravia. The entire sequence is rendered for the upcoming HD format, albeit still scaled down to a standard definition, 4:3 aspect ratio.
6. DP121 - DP132: Presentation switches to the high definition, 16:9 widescreen ratio.
7. DP133: Monferno replaces Chimchar.
8. DP134 - DP157: Song is updated with a remixed version, High Touch! 2009. As with Together2008, the opening animation remains completely unchanged from the previous version.
