Harrison (Johto)

Harrison (Japanese: ハヅキ Hazuki) is a character from the Pokémon anime. He began his journey in Littleroot Town, Hoenn, and competed in the Silver Conference.

He first appeared in Pop Goes the Sneasel. Along with Ash and his friends, Harrison tried to ward off a wild Sneasel that was guarding the sacred Ho-Oh flame. Harrison promised that he would capture it. Using his Blaziken, he did just that.

After many cameos during the qualifying rounds of the Silver Conference, Harrison appeared in Can't Beat the Heat, where he and Ash began their six-on-six battle. It continued in Playing with Fire and Johto Photo Finish. In the latter episode, Harrison defeated Ash, but went on to lose to Jon Dickson.

It was Harrison who convinced Ash to go to the Hoenn region. He told Ash about Professor Birch and all the Pokémon that Ash had probably never seen before.

Following the Silver Conference, Harrison went to Kanto to participate in the Indigo League.

		Sneasel
		Harrsion's Sneasel first appeared in Pop Goes The Sneasel. It was a wild Pokémon who was blocking people from accessing Ho-Oh's flame. Harrison and Ash teamed up and caught this Pokémon. Despite being new to his team, Harrison trusted its strength enough to use it in the Silver Conference, where it fought against Ash's Pikachu, who lost to it, and Ash's Totodile, who defeated it. Sneasel's known moves are Faint Attack, Metal Claw, Quick Attack, Shadow Ball and Slash.

		Hypno
		Harrison's Hypno was a very powerful Pokémon. Its first, and only, appearance was in Playing with Fire!, where it faced off against Ash's Totodile, who was defeated by the Psychic type. It was then defeated by Ash's Snorlax. Hypno's known moves are Dream Eater, Hypnosis and Psychic.

		Houndoom
		Harrison's Houndoom was first seen in Pop Goes The Sneasel, where it teamed up with Ash's Phanpy to fight Sneasel. During Harrison's battle with Ash, it defeated Ash's powerful Snorlax but then lost to Ash's Bayleef. It was last seen losing to John Dickson's Rhyhorn. Houndoom's known moves are Bite, Counter, Flamethrower and Headbutt.

Trivia

• Harrison has similarities to Ash's Hoenn League rivals, Morrison and Tyson. Each one has a "-son" at the end of their names and the final forms of one of the Hoenn starters, Tyson with a Sceptile, Harrison with a Blaziken, and Morrison with a Swampert. It should be noted that their similar names are not present in the original Japanese, so whether or not they were intended to be from the same group of Trainers as Jimmy, Marina, and Vincent or Ash and Gary Oak are is unknown.
• Harrison's name is also similar to that of Ash's Silver Conference and Ever Grande Conference opponents Jackson and Morrison. Along with the aforementioned "-son" ending, they are all named after famous singers (George Harrison, Jim Morrison and Michael Jackson respectively).
• Due to a dub error, it is at one point claimed that Harrison's hometown is Silver Town.
• Harrison is from the Hoenn region, yet his only known Hoenn-native Pokémon are both Generation III Pokémon. All of his other known Pokémon, besides Hypno, are Generation II Pokémon that do not appear in the Hoenn Pokédex (though it is possible he caught them during his journey in Johto).
• Harrison is the only rival Ash has had in any of the Pokémon League Conferences that didn't have any Pokémon Ash has caught or are part of the same evolutionary family as one of Ash's Pokémon.
