The Guardians Rising Prerelease Kit is a special product given to participants at the start of Prerelease Tournaments for the Guardians Rising expansion. Prerelease Tournaments for the Guardians Rising expansion were held on the two weekends prior to the release of the expansion, on April 22-23, and 29-30, 2017. Each Kit contains a random set of predetermined cards designed to enhance the experience of the Limited format tournament that follows.

Included in each Prerelease Kit is a 23-card Evolution pack that includes one of four specially stamped Prerelease cards for the expansion, as well as four booster packs. The Prerelease cards for the Guardians Rising expansion are Oricorio [Sensu Style], Alolan Sandslash, Mudsdale, and Drampa, with each containing a group of Pokemon cards that are focused around a particular type respectively: Grass-type, Water-type, Fighting-type, and Darkness-type.

The Guardians Rising Prerelease Kits provided one exclusive Non Holofoil of a card which was only released as Holofoil in Guardians Rising booster packs: Mudsdale.

Oricorio [Pa'u Style] may also be present in a Prerelease Kit. A Kit will likely to contain a copy, although it is possible that none may be received in a Kit containing the Mudsdale group, while 2 copies may be found in a Kit that does not contain the Mudsdale group. Oricorio's inclusion in these Prerelease Kits is for it's ability to search out Basic Energy cards, akin to Professor's Letter, an Item card introduced in the XY TCG era. Oricorio is treated like Professor's Letter in that they will replace one of the possible Item cards (see Section 2 below) that you can receive.

Section 2

Each Prerelease Kit also included an additional random group of predetermined Trainer cards. A maximum of 8 Trainer cards are included with 4 in any combination of the Supporter cards and up to 4* in any combination of Item cards were included (but no more than 1 Great Ball or 2 copies of any other Trainer card).

  • An Item card is deducted for each Oricorio [Pa'u Style] present in the Kit. The Mudsdale Group will also receive 1 less of the Item cards below as it contains 1 extra card in its group.
