Gorebyss (Japanese: サクラビス Sakurabyss; German: Saganabyss; French: Rosabyss) is a Water-type Pokémon.

Name origin

Gorebyss's name is a combination of gore, to stab, and byss, referring to filaments mollusks use to attach themselves to rocks. Its name could also possibly be a play on gorgeous. Another explanation could lie with the words 'abyss' and the 'abyssal zone'. Gorebyss' descriptions seem to confirm this view. Its Japanese name is derived from the Japanese sakura, cherry blossom, possibly referring to its pink color, and the aforementioned byss.

Gorebyss may have been based on a hagfish.
