Goldeen (Japanese: トサキント Tosakinto) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves into Seaking at level 33.
Biology
Physiology
Goldeen is a white fish Pokémon with orange markings on its tail, fins and along the top of its body. Goldeen's tail fin is admired by many for its beauty as it billows very much like a ballroom dress. Goldeen has a large horn on its forehead.
Gender differences
A female has a smaller horn.
Special abilities
Goldeen's large and dangerous horn is its main weapon. Although not known as an aggressive Pokémon, people swimming in waters that Goldeen are known to inhabit should be wary of being rammed.
Behavior
Goldeen can be seen swimming upstream in large schools during the breeding season of Spring. Goldeen swims at a steady speed of five knots. Goldeen love to frolic and dance in bodies of water and dislike being kept in captivity. A Goldeen in an aquarium will use its powerful horn to smash its way to freedom.
Habitat
Goldeen are a very common sight in any water body.
Diet

In the anime
Misty's Goldeen first appeared in Pokémon Emergency!.
Another Goldeen appeared in Here Comes the Squirtle Squad. A Squirtle knocked Pikachu into a lake which angered the Goldeen. It proceeded to attack Pikachu with a Horn Attack which severely injured it.
A Goldeen appeared in DP089.
In the TCG

Other appearances
Super Smash Bros.
When released from a Poké Ball, Goldeen will use Splash, not being much of a threat.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
When released from a Poké Ball, Goldeen will use Splash, not being much of a threat.
Goldeen is also a Pokéfloat. It will appear from the bottom of the screen but quickly drop down to the bottom again, K.O.ing any character it hits.
Trophy information
These Water-types are often referred to as "water dancers," as their elegant fins make them incredible agile underwater. They can even travel upstream in rapids at a speed of five knots; of course, they're not quite as nimble on dry land. Goldeen's Horn Drill is so strong that it can KO an enemy with one strike if it connects.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Goldeen will sometimes be found in a Poké Ball and will use Splash when released. It still does nothing to affect the battle. On the official blog, Masahiro Sakurai commented that Goldeen appearing at the most critical of times is in keeping with Murphy's Law. [1]

Trivia
- In its Red, Green, and Blue sprites, its horn is twice as long as normal.
- Goldeen was originally going to be called "Goldy".
- Goldeen, as well as Seaking, has been in all regional Pokédexes.
- Goldeen and Seaking are the only two Pokémon that can learn Waterfall through level up.
- Goldeen has the same in-game cry as Caterpie.
Origin
It seems to be based on a goldfish. The horn part may be based on Matsya, an avatar that the hindu god Brahma assumed, which is sometimes depicted as a fish with a horn.
Name origin
Goldeen's name may be a combination of goldfish and queen. Its Japanese name stems from とさきん tosakin, a kind of goldfish.
In other languages

- French: Poissirene - Poisson means fish, and sirène means siren or mermaid.
- Korean: 콘치 Konchi
