Global Trade Station Plus, commonly known as GTSPlus or simply GTS+, is an English Pokémon community. It is well known for its Trade Station, as well as its sister site, Global PokédeX Plus. The website was co-founded by three members of a Fire Emblem fan-site, created on June 11, 2007, and later opened to the public on the July 1, 2007.

History

GTSPlus, along with its trade station, was first launched in July 2007 with high hopes of becoming a Wi-Fi staple. Despite offering a range of interactive features, activity stayed fairly low in its opening months. The site continued to grow however, further developing its Gallery and Pokédex in mid-2008 which garnered a rise in activity. Partly due to word of mouth, the forums became a commonplace for website and general Pokémon discussion at which point the total recorded trade-count had reached 100. Around late 2008 the website was upgraded to its current V2.0. Along with the upgrade came the interactive tab, bringing about mass speculation as to what this button was for.

It was not until 2009 that activity really took off. Valentine's Day 2009, February 14, saw the launch of its sister site, Global Pokédex Plus. More casually referred to as GPXPlus or GPX+, the unique adoptables website allowed users to adopt Pokémon Eggs to hatch, raise, and evolve them through "clicking" other members' parties. This feature attracted a surprising amount of new members, and in just a few months the website garnered thousands of active members. With its continually growing member base, most of the website's updates are concentrated on GPXPlus.

Special events were once held monthly, allowing members to obtain rare Legendary and Novelty Pokémon that are otherwise unobtainable; however, they have now been replaced by "Explorations". There are two types of Explorations with varied difficulty: "Special Explorations" can be very difficult and have higher requirements to start, while "Normal Explorations" will be more easily accessible. Different Explorations will be cycled in and out on a monthly basis, so if a member is unable to complete an exploration within the month that it is available they can try again the next time it comes around.

As of April 2010, the main page has not been updated.

Global PokédeX Plus

The gameplay mechanics are simple. Most users are trying to attain one or more of three main goals:

  • Rank highly on the statistics boards
  • Obtain Eggdex and Pokédex entries for every Pokémon known
  • Obtain all of the achievements possible on the site

There are also nine main sections/functions of GPX+, with each being linked at the top of the page.

  • Lab - The Lab displays a list of Pokémon Eggs that may be claimed through "Egg descriptions". Several legendary Pokémon may also be summoned through "summoning items" in the Lab. Any Egg may appear here, but legendary Pokémon are very unlikely to appear.
  • Shelter - The Shelter is divided into two sections - the Egg Shelter, and the Safari Zone. The Egg shelter shows all Eggs bred or released by other users, and the Safari Zone shows all Pokémon released by other users.
  • Pokétch - The Pokétch provides a variety of functions, including access to the user's Party, Daycare, and various other functions. Access to the underground, initiating "Shiny hunts" through the Shine Recorder, Daycare, user statistics, explorations, interactions, Pokéwalker, achievements, inventory, journal, released Pokémon, bred Pokémon, signature image codes, Pal Pad, friend recorder, Vs. Seeker is located here, and the player can start an Exploration. Some functions such as the Vs. Seeker and the Shine Recorder must be bought in the shop before they can be used.
  • Battles-If Pokémon have been sent there, battles agaings other users or NPCs can be done via the battle tower.
  • UsersAllows players to access the page of other GPX plus users and click them
  • Dex - The Pokédex shows a list of all Pokémon the user has obtained data for. This includes Egg Data, which is obtained through hatching an Egg of a certain species, and Pokémon Data, which can be obtained through the same process, or adopting a Pokémon from the shelter. The Dex also lists Dex completion stats, evolution information, and also features an in-depth sorting system.
  • PC - Pokémon that aren't in a user's party are stored here. The default PC has 25 boxes, with each storing up to 24 Pokémon, but an additional 15 extra PC boxes may be bought in the store with another 10 from the extra PC Box plus. Pokémon Eggs cannot be stored in the PC.
  • Shop - Items such as battle equipment for the Vs. Seeker (Black Belt, Dragon Fang, etc.), accounts upgrades, miscellaneous items and evolution items can be found in the shop. The shop's stock changes every 12 hours at 6:00am and 6:00pm. The shop also contains a section for accessories and a backroom section which may be unlocked after obtaining a Secret Key. Accessories may be used to dress up Pokémon once a dress up case has been purchased, and the Backroom displays items sold off by other members. The Backroom sells items that have been sold to the shop by users for 2/3 of the price.
  • Stats - The statistics page is a detailed list of site totals, daily totals, and various "top tens". Many users compete to earn a spot on these lists.
  • Help - The help section and FAQ.

Points (the currency used in game) can be gathered through clicking and interacting with other Pokémon and Eggs to give them maturity. They are awarded when achievements are unlocked, and every time a Pokémon is leveled to 100, or a new Egg is adopted.

Another feature is novelty Pokémon, which are special Pokémon exclusive to the site, and are often based on existing Pokémon. Special variations of normal Pokémon shown in official media such as Crystal Onix and Clone Charizard are included, along with Missingno., customized Pokémon like Slime Slugma, and original designs such as Pokii and Dracowymsy.
