Historical origin
Ginchiyo is based on the real-life Tachibana Ginchiyo of Japanese history. Muneshige was her husband and Dōsetsu (Tachibana Dōsetsu) was her father. The Tachibana served as retainers to the Ōtomo clan, which included Sōrin (Ōtomo Sōrin). Her father-in-law, Shōun (Takahashi Shōun), was also a retainer of the Ōtomo.
Trivia
- In Japanese history, Dōsetsu(Ginchiyo's father) gain the name "Thunder God" due to his survival of a thunderbolt hit. Ginchiyo's Electic type Pokémon may be a reference to this incident.
