A Gift box in Pokémon GO

A Gift (Japanese: ギフト Gift) is an item that was introduced to Pokémon GO on June 21, 2018, in conjunction with the Friends feature. It is a box of items that players can send to other players who have been added as Friends.

Gifts are obtained by spinning Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms. Players will be notified whenever they have received a Gift and when a Gift they have sent has been opened. Attached to the Gift box is a postcard of the Photo Disc where the Gift was originally obtained. Players receive 200 XP for sending a Gift, and when the Gift is opened, the Friendship level between the two players increases.

A player can only send one Gift to each friend per day and cannot send a another one to the same Friend until the previous Gift has been opened. Players can only open up to 20 Gift boxes a day, though there is no limit on how many can be received at once. If the Bag is full, Gifts cannot be opened until there is space available. A player's inventory can only carry up to ten Gift boxes at one time.
