==History==
One hundred years prior to the events of the movie, Hoopa appeared in Dessert City in its Unbound form. After developing a close association with the people of the city, it often battled other Pokémon in order to entertain them, but once Hoopa started to take it too far and caused damage to the city, Ghris appeared and sealed Hoopa's power into the Prison Bottle, reverting it to a much smaller form. He then took care of the confused Hoopa, initially telling it that until it realized the error of its ways, its power would be forever confined.
Many years later, Hoopa started to develop a strong friendship with Ghris's great grandchildren, Barza and Mary, in their childhood. When he saw the three of them together, he was happy to see them and told them that they are precious to him. He only appeared in Barza, Mary, and Hoopa's flashbacks.
