Physiology
+
Froslass is a humanoid Pokémon with a hollow torso that resembles a kimono. It wears a red band around its waist, reminiscent of an Obi. Its body lacks feet and it floats in the air like its counterpart, Glalie. Its arms are connected to the sides of its head, and flare at the wrists. The flared portion has dappled, light blue coloration. Its hands consist of three small fingers. Froslass's head is shaped similar to a sideways water droplet, and is topped with two ice crystals that resemble horns. Its head has several holes on it, resembling a mask. Through two of these holes, crystal blue eyes with yellow sclerae can be seen. It also has a mouth below this "mask".
Froslass doesn't have any feet, so she floats in the air like her counterpart, Glalie. What appears to be her torso is hollow, as is stated in the Pokédex's entry for Froslass, which is the reason for her surprisingly low weight. This "body" resembles a kimono, especially due to the fact that the red band around her waist is reminiscent of an Obi (sash). Her arms, which hang off the sides of her head like ears, are flared at the wrist to further give it a kimono look. The flared portions of her arms have a dappled light blue coloration, and Froslass's hands consist of three small fingers. Froslass's head is shaped like a droplet of water turned on its side. The head has two ice crystals on top of it, as well as several holes through which a purple skin can be seen. From two of them, crystal-blue eyes with yellow scleras peek out. A small mouth can be found below her white "mask".

Gender differences
+
Froslass lives in snowy areas and has the ability to freeze foes with its -58 degrees Fahrenheit breath. It is thought to display its victims secretly after freezing them. As evidenced in the anime, it can create illusions to manipulate others. Froslass is a female only species, and is said in legends to be the spirit of a woman who was lost in the mountains.
Froslass is a female-only species. Some consider Glalie to be the male counterpart although it can be either gender.

Special abilities
+
In the anime
Froslass has the ability to freeze foes with her -58 degrees Fahrenheit (-50 degrees Celsius) breath and create illusions to manipulate both her prey and foes as evidenced in the anime.

Major appearances
  +
Froslass made her television debut in Pikachu's Ice Adventure, where she was fighting with an Abomasnow before they realized their quarrel was destroying several ice statues.

Behavior
+
Froslass made her main series debut in The Drifting Snorunt!, where she kidnapped Dawn's Piplup and MTR, forcing Ash, Dawn, Brock, and TRT to help her by saving her friend Snorunt from a poacher.
Froslass' behavior is somewhat reminiscent to that of the Yuki-onna in Japanese mythology, since it will wander around snowstorms or blizzards to find unsuspecting humans and prey and will attack by freezing them into solid ice. They are said to secretly put the frozen corpses of their victims on display. Froslass are also very caring and will protect those who she loves and trusts, especially their Snorunt.

Habitat
+
A Froslass appeared in A Real Rival Rouser!, under the ownership of Paul. He used her during his Full Battle against Ash in the Lily of the Valley Conference. Froslass battled Pikachu, but was eventually defeated after a hard-fought match.

A Froslass first appeared under the ownership of Candice in VS. Froslass, where it is presented as her secret weapon to battle Platinum. Due to her Rapidash and its speed, its attacks rarely hit, and didn't dish out much damage due to the type matchup, but the moment Platinum ordered it to use Rest, its Wake-Up Slap dealt out lethal damage, forcing her to recall it. Then, after Platinum's Lopunny managed to defeat Candice's Abomasnow, and Froslass seemed to have the battle won when Lopunny fainted as well, it was finally beaten by Rapidash. Platinum, revealing that she had Lopunny faint itself with its Healing Wish, Candice handed her the Icicle, and the three head out to Lake Acuity. This Froslass is later given to Platinum at the Spear Pillar.

Trivia
* No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Froslass.

* No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Froslass.
** She and Frost Rotom are the only Ice Pokémon not to have more weaknesses than combined resistances and immunities.
+
* Due to the censor that prevents Pokémon with offensive nicknames being traded on the GTS, an English language Froslass could not be traded on the GTS without a nickname in Black and White.
** She is the only Ice Pokémon that is immune to Fighting moves, which they are normally weak to, due to her being part Ghost.

* Froslass and Shedinja are the only two Ghost types that evolve from a Pokémon that isn't a Ghost type.

* Although Froslass floats in the air, she does not have the ability to Levitate.

* Froslass is the last Pokémon in the National Pokédex that evolves from Snorunt from a prior generation.

* Froslass is tied with Gengar for the fastest Ghost-type Pokémon, with a base Speed of 110.

* Froslass and her Glalie Snorunt's egg group (Fairy and Mineral) are unique.

* Froslass has a lot of similarities with Jynx: both learn Wake-Up Slap at level 28, both are female-only, both are dual Ice-types with Ice as their primary type which have unique combinations, which their secondary-type are the only of their type to learn Wake-Up Slap, both are fully-evolved, both can learn nearly the same Ice-type moves by their level or TM, having nearly the same TMs, and both have different moves from their pre-evolutions.

** She may be a partial counterpart to Gallade. Both of their first forms can evolve by level, regardless of gender, or gender-specific evolution with a Dawn Stone, the only Pokémon that evolve with it.

* Due to the censor that prevents Pokémon with offensive nicknames being traded on the GTS, an English language Froslass cannot be traded on the GTS without a nickname in Black and White.

* Froslass is so far the fastest Ice Pokémon.

Froslass (Japanese: ユキメノコ Yukimenoko) is a dual-type Ice/Ghost Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from a female Snorunt when exposed to a Dawn Stone. It is one of Snorunt's final forms, the other being Glalie.

Biology

Major appearances

Froslass made her television debut in Pikachu's Ice Adventure, where she was fighting with an Abomasnow before they realized their quarrel was destroying several ice statues.

Froslass made her main series debut in The Drifting Snorunt!, where she kidnapped Dawn's Piplup and Meowth, forcing Ash, Dawn, Brock, and Team Rocket to help her by saving her friend Snorunt from a poacher.

A Froslass appeared in A Real Rival Rouser!, under the ownership of Paul. He used her during his Full Battle against Ash in the Lily of the Valley Conference. Froslass battled Pikachu, but was eventually defeated after a hard-fought match.

Minor appearances

Froslass debuted in a brief cameo in Giratina and the Sky Warrior, where she helped Ash's friends stop a moving glacier.

A Coordinator's Froslass appeared in Unlocking the Red Chain of Events!, where it was seen on TV participating in a Double Performance along with a Lucario.

A Froslass appeared during a flashback in This Magik Moment!, where she was seen fighting an Abomasnow. Their clash triggered a blizzard that prevented a plane carrying three Pokémon stars from arriving at Alola.

Two Froslass appeared in Drawn with the Wind!, where they serve as waitresses for customers in Malie Garden.

A Froslass appeared Aiming for the Top Floor!, where it was seen with Ganmo inside the Kantonian Gym as a waitress. It brought food for Ash and his classmates.

A Froslass first appeared under the ownership of Candice in To and Fro with Froslass, where she used it as her secret weapon during her Gym battle against Platinum. It was eventually defeated by Platinum's Rapidash after it had been healed by her Lopunny's Healing Wish. During the battle against Team Galactic at the Spear Pillar, Candice gave her Froslass to Platinum. In the Platinum chapter, Froslass was used during Platinum's Battle Hall match against Argenta.

Trivia

Origin

Froslass is most likely based on Yuki-onna, a female ice-spirit of Japanese folklore.

Name origin

Froslass is a combination of frost and lass.

Yukimenoko may be a combination of 雪 yuki (snow) and 女の子 menoko (archaic word for girl). Kimeno also sounds like a corruption of 着物 kimono.
