Friend Guard (Japanese: フレンドガード Friend Guard) is an Ability introduced in Generation V.

Effect

In battle

Friend Guard reduces the damage that other allied Pokémon receive from attacks (from any Pokémon) by 25%. It does not reduce the damage dealt by moves that deal direct damage. It does not affect the Pokémon with the Ability itself.

If multiple of a Pokémon's allies have Friend Guard, Friend Guard stacks multiplicatively. For example, if both of a Pokémon's allies have Friend Guard in a Triple Battle, the damage that that Pokémon receives is multiplied by 9/16 (56.25%), which is a damage reduction of 43.75%.

Outside of battle

Friend Guard has no effect outside of battle.
