Forina (Japanese: ファウンス Fauns) is an anime-exclusive location and one of the settings for Jirachi: Wish Maker. It is characterized by scrubs and pillar-like rock formations. The area's mountainous terrain makes it difficult to access even on foot.
The caverns beneath the valley are where the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi hibernates for a millennium between the periods where it is awakened by a comet for seven days. The power that Jirachi absorbs from the comet is said to maintain Forina's natural beauty.
Butler and Diane first visited the area and obtained Jirachi in the hope of restoring the Legendary Pokémon Groudon from a fossil. Butler somewhat succeeded, with Jirachi's power managing to unleash a Groudon. However the creation began absorbing energy from Forina’s landscape with its tentacles, consuming people and Pokémon alike. Jirachi used Doom Desire to destroy the false Groudon. Ash’s friends, Team Rocket, Diane and Butler as well as Forina's Pokémon were also revitalized.
While Jirachi returned to its crystalline slumber, Diane and Butler decided to stay in Forina. In the ending credits of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Kidd Summers visited Forina and met up with the Butler and Diane.
According to promotional posters, it is located just southwest of Hoenn's Mt. Chimney and northwest of Lavaridge Town.
