Flare Blitz (Japanese: フレアドライブ Flare Drive) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in Generation IV.

Effect

Flare Blitz will thaw out the user if it is frozen, and then inflict damage on the target.

Flare Blitz will cause the user to receive recoil damage equal to ⅓ of the damage done to the target. This move has a 10% chance of burning the target.

Infernape Infernape's body becomes surrounded by red-orange fire and it shoots at the opponent like a missile, slamming into it with great force. Sometimes as its charging at the opponent, the fire around it turns light blue. When the attack is over, red sparks surround Infernape's body as it takes recoil damage.

Entei Entei charges at the opponent. As it does, it leaves behind a trail of orange fire. The fire then reaches Entei and circles around its body until completely covering Entei's body like a fiery aura. Entei then slams into the opponent with great force. As it runs, it leaves behind a trail of orange fire.

Emboar Emboar crosses its arms in front of its face and its body suddenly becomes engulfed in red flames. Emboar then puts its arms down and soars straight at the opponent like a missile. While flying towards the opponent, only its head can be seen, and its body becomes covered in spiraling red-yellow fire while it becomes surrounded in red-orange fire. Emboar then flies into the opponent, or Emboar's body becomes surrounded in light blue flames and it shoots like a missile at the opponent, slamming into it.

  • The color of the engulfing flames in Flare Blitz's anime depictions changed permanently from orange to blue with the advent of Ash's Infernape's debut with the move.
