Trivia

Origin

It appears to be based simply on a sheep, although it might borrow its electrical aspect from the way wool builds up static charges.

Name origin

Flaaffy's name may be a combination of fluffy and baa, the sound a sheep makes. Alternately, the name could be a combination of ‘’fluffy’’ and ‘’taffy’’, an informal nickname for Welsh people, who are often stereotypically associated with sheep. It may also incorporate "laugh", considering its playful nature. The double-A in its name could also originate from a double-A battery, given Flaaffy's electric type. Its Japanese name could come from 羊毛 yōmō, wool, and a corruption of もこもこ mokomoko, fluffy.

In other languages

  • German: Waaty - From watt and/or Watte (cotton wool).
  • French: Lainergie - From laine (wool) and énergie (energy).
  • Korean: 보송송 Bosongsong
  • Chinese: 綿綿
