A Firebreather (Japanese: ひふきやろう Fire-breathing Guy) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation II games. In Generation II they were depicted as overweight clowns spewing out flames, while HeartGold and SoulSilver redesigned them and they now wear clothing designed after Magmar.
They specialize in Fire-type Pokémon. They may, however, use Poison-type Pokémon that produce smoke, like Koffing and Weezing, as well.

Trivia
- Between Generations II and IV, one Firebreather got a name change from "Dick" to "Richard," likely due to the secondary meaning of the name Dick, itself a diminutive of the name Richard.
- A sprite color change in Pokémon Gold and Silver occurs after Dick loses a battle against the player, from red to gray.
- Firebreathers Dick and Ned are the only Trainers from Pokémon Gold and Silver to not appear in Pokémon Crystal.
