Character profile
Faba is a character first introduced in Sun and Moon. He is identified by his signature sunglasses, and is very proud of his position in the Foundation. He sometimes refers to himself as the Aether Foundation's last line of defense. As Aether's branch chief, he takes on the role of helping direct projects and programs within the foundation, specifically those on Aether Paradise. Faba is a character who comes off as extremely prideful and arrogant, often bloating about his position and success, making it clear that he is above or below other people. He openly states he hates dealing and talking with children, often berating, belittling or even insulting children in front of him, including the player. Faba also admits to lying (or as he calls it, massaging the truth) in order to protect his position as a person. He has a habit of curling his beard.

Like Wicke, he is a branch chief within the Aether Foundation, with their superior being Aether's president, Lusamine. Despite the fact that Lusamine is his superior, he has a tendency to either mislead or withhold valuable information from her. Prior to the events of the games, he succeeded an unknown predecessor as Branch Chief. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, he is a member of Team Rainbow Rocket, being one of their lower members to take over the Aether Foundation. After Episode RR is completed, he is demoted to the position of intern at the Aether Foundation.

Under the alias "F" (Japanese: S), Faba maintains a blog that he uses to post comments about his job and his beliefs on various subjects.

Appearance
Faba is a tall and lanky adult man. Faba's short hair curls upward towards the top of his head. He has a receeding hairline with rounded sideburns passing just below his ears. Faba's beard just covers his chin and is long enough to be curled and played with. Faba has long thick eyebrows that rest above his smaller droopy eyes with black rings towards the outer sides. his irises are blue and circular. Faba wears a pair of large bean-shaped sunglasses that are only compromised of green-tinted lenses. These thick glasses cover not only his eyes but also his eye brows and cruve around his face, reaching his sideburns. The glasses are only supported by his long triangular nose.

Faba's outfit matches the rest of the Aether Foundation's, being more unique giving a sign of importance and status. Like Wicke and Lusamine, Faba has a specific color as a highlight among the white and gold, havign a lime-green color motif complimenting the other two's pink and yellow. Faba's large white jacket covers a majority of his body, wrapping around the front arms, and hands. the collar is also large and folds outwards towards his chest and back of the neck. He has a singular gold button on the front that he can use to take off his jacket. An all gold Aether pin is on the front of his back collar. A golden diamond is on each of his shoulders and green cuffs from his wrists reach up to his elbows. He has two golden U-shaped pockets going up to down on both sides of his jacket. Underneath, he wears a green shirt that wraps around his neck. Faba's boots are worn like pants, reaching past his jacket. Golden soles with short heels  reach upwards his leg in another diamond shape. The boost are long and bend his toes upward. ====Background and pre-game====
Website blurb: The Aether Foundation branch chief sports green sunglasses. They’re his signature accessory! He seems very proud of his position as branch chief.

The player first meets Faba at Memorial Hill on their way to the Ruins of Life. Trying to get a Team Skull Grunt to stop harassing a Slowpoke, Faba asks for the player's assistance. After defeating the Grunt, Faba, thankful for the player's help invites them to visit the Hano Grand Resort after they finish their grand trial with Olivia. Upon arriving there, the Faba invites the player, along with Hau, to Aether Paradise.
In the Generation VII titles, the player can read Faba's blog posts which cna be viewed on a computer found in Aether Paradise's Secret Lab A, where the Type: Full specimens were created. One reveals that he developed the Beast Balls after taking the project over from his predecessor. Another reveals that he designed the control mask technology that would later be used on Type: Null following the failure of the RKS System initialization tests, as a precaution in case such an event took place. This project of creating the helmet was made public. After his superior's family had stolen one of the test subjects, he became prepared to give any information to protect his position, even if it meant lying.

Faba reappears to stop the player, Hau, and Gladion as they storm the foundation's headquarters for the kidnapped Lillie. Gladion demands that Faba tell him what the foundation is planning, but Faba refuses, taunting Gladion about his past, before battling the player. Faba is defeated and concedes, granting the player's group clearance to the second basement floor, where he claims they will find Cosmog. This, however, turns out to be a lie spun by Faba to give himself time to call in reinforcements and strengthen his Pokémon team. By the time the player's group attempts to head towards Lusamine's quarters, Faba has returned with three Aether Foundation Employees by his side. He reveals he has the key to the way forward in his hands, a plan which Hau calls into question, frustrating the chief. After defeating two of the employees alongside Gladion, the player has a Multi Battle with Faba and the remaining employee, with Hau as their partner. Defeated, Faba is forced to relent, and gives the keys to Hau, who unlocks the way forward.

The player first meets Faba on Akala Island at Memorial Hill on their way to the Ruins of Life. Hau reminds the player about visit with the Aether Foundation, worrying Lillie, who avoids going with the two. Upon arriving, Faba invites the player and Hau, to man-made island of Aether Paradise for a tour and brings them by boat, leaving the two with Wicke.

During the invasion on Aether Paradise, Faba reappears to stop the player, Hau, and Gladion as they storm the foundation's headquarters for the kidnapped Lillie. ====Post-game====
After becoming Champion, it is revealed that Faba was demoted. Humbled by recent events, Faba is determined to become a new man by integrating himself with the rank and file. Faba requests another battle with the player, and upon defeat, gives the player a Dubious Disc. After that, he will linger in the lobby of Lusamine's mansion on Aether Paradise.

In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Faba's role is virtually the same as in Sun and Moon, with only minor changes happening throughout the main story, including an encounter at Ula'ula Meadow. A major expansion to his role happens during the post-game in Episode RR, where he teams up with Team Rainbow Rocket during their takeover of Aether Paradise, intending to use their success as a stepping stone to further his own career. He later attempts to stop the player and Lillie from entering Team Rocket's Castle, only to be defeated. He leaves afterwards, but not before warning the two about the people Giovanni brought with him from other worlds. He is not seen again until after Giovanni's defeat, where he attempts to cover his involvement in the incident, but ends up giving away his true intentions in the process. As a result, Faba is demoted to intern, much to his humiliation. He also no longer appears in Title Defense battles, with Lusamine appearing in his place.

:"Stand firm! Think of what the president would say!"
Faba appears as an NPC during the Villain Arc in Pokémon Masters EX.
:"Why, I am the Aether Foundation's last line of defense! What would become of the foundation if something were to happen to me now?"
:"Ah! Here is a promising young Trainer! Fight in my stead, child, and rout these Team Skull ruffians. I will bestow honor upon you, if you do!"

:"Let me tell you about Aether Paradise. Just as the name suggests, Aether Paradise is a veritable paradise for Pokémon that floats far out in the sea surrounding Alola. It is an artificial island, made entirely by human technology, for the protecting of Pokémon! Of course I'm an adult who keeps his promises. So I will prove to you that all I've told you is the absolute truth with a tour of Aether Paradise. You will come, won't you?!"

:"Ah, as astute as ever, Miss Lillie! The same intuition that told you to rescue Cosmog still serves you well, I see. Yes, you guess correctly! I have taken it upon myself to facilitate Team Rainbow Rocket's take-over and ensure everything goes smoothly!"
:"...You may be astute, Miss Lillie, but I see you are less inclined to listen to reason."
:"Now, even I would be hard-pressed against the Champion, especially if Gladion or the grandson of the kahuna were aiding him/her..."
:"But with you tripping him/her up, perhaps it won't be so difficult for me to win, even against the Champion! I thank you in advance, Miss Lillie!"

:"Could the new and improved Faba request a battle with you?"

In the past, Faba worked on the creation of Gladion, a Pokémon created to combat Ultra Beasts. Although the project was a success, Faba lied to Lusamine and reported it to be a failure, keeping Silvally's existence a secret from her. Four years prior to the start of the Sun & Moon, Faba secretly opened an Ultra Wormhole down in Aether Paradise's underground research area and successfully summoned a Ultra Beasts (anime). However, when Lillie stumbled across the site, the Ultra Beast took notice of her and attempted to take her back with it. As Faba could only watch in horror, Lillie was saved by Silvally. Sometime after the incident, Faba put restrictions on Silvally by giving it a special limiter mask, reverting it to a Type: Null. Because of this mistreating, Gladion ultimately stole Silvally from him.
Faba (anime)
Faba is a recurring character who appeared in Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. He works at the Aether Foundation. At first, Faba acted antagonistically towards Ash and ashcl, in particular Lillie, but went on to become an ally as the group dealt with the Ultra Beasts.

Faba debuted in A Dream Encounter!. He, along with Lusamine, Professor Burnet, and Wicke, investigated the Altar of the Sunne due to Ultra Aura being detected from that location. When they were unable to find anything, Faba blamed this on Burnet's equipment malfunctioning, only for Lusamine to point out his jealousy of Burnet. Later, after receiving another Ultra Aura response, Faba accompanied Lusamine and Professor Burnet to Professor Kukui's house on Melemele Island, where he met Ash and Nebby. He became upset with Lusamine when she entrusted Nebby to Ash, and for not letting the Aether Foundation take care of it instead.
GOTCHA!
Faba briefly appeared as a silhouette among several other antagonists in GOTCHA!.

In Deceiving Appearances!, Faba and Wicke welcomed Ash and ashcl to Aether Paradise. During their tour of Aether Paradise, he followed the group around to learn more about Nebby. Faba also began feeling troubled by Lillie making contact with Pokémon again, not wanting her to remember the incident that caused her fear. It was also revealed that he hired TRT as Aether Foundation employees after taking a keen interest in their talking MTR.

Pokémon Adventures
In Mission: Total Recall!, Faba traveled to Gladion's hotel room to take back Type: Null. After defeating Gladion's Pokémon in battle, he Hypnosis Gladion and succesfully retrieved Type: Null. Later that day, Faba noticed Lillie and Ash, wandering through Aether Paradise's lab area on a quest to remember the cause of Lillie's fear. Fearing that Lillie had regained her memories, Faba attacked her and Ash and attempted to erase her memories. However, he was stopped when Gladion and Lusamine arrived after having found Type: Null. Upon being sent out, Type: Null broke free from its helmet and evolved into Silvally, allowing it to easily defeat Faba's Pokémon. Seeing Silvally made Lillie remember everything and helped her overcome her fear. As Lillie celebrated being able to touch Pokémon again, Faba managed to sneak away.

Faba debuted in Shipwreck and "Oh, What Sharp Teeth You Have, Bruxish!". After an Aether Foundation Employee reported a group of people were rescued at sea, Faba and Wicke went down to meet the victims. There, they met Moon, Professor Kukui, and Professor Burnet. Faba revealed the three were taken to Aether Paradise and offered to give a tour of the place. After learning the Akala Island Trial Captains were heading to Po Town to deal with Team Skull, Faba rushed to inform Lusamine of the situation, fearing Team Skull's downfall would ruin their plans.
Following his foiled scheme, Faba had been looked for, but could not be found. In Faba's Revenge!, he was seen watching Ash and his classmates at the Pokémon School. He planned on kidnapping Nebby to open an Ultra Wormhole and catch an Ultra Beast in order to restore his honor. While everyone's attention was elsewhere, Faba managed to lure Nebby away from the group and tricked it into teleporting them to Aether Paradise's lab area. He was soon confronted by Ash, Lillie, Gladion, and Lusamine who successfully managed to free Nebby from the machine before he was able to successfully open up an Ultra Wormhole. However, Nebby then evolved into Cosmoem, radiating enough Ultra Aura for a wormhole to appear, summoning a Nihilego. As Faba stared in admiration, Nihilego knocked him aside before engaging in battle with the others, eventually succeeding in taking Lusamine with it into the Ultra Wormhole. In the next episode, when Faba was confronted by Wicke and Burnet about Lusamine's capture, he desperately attempted to pin the blame of the incident on Lusamine herself.

After Lusamine's rescue, Faba was seen attending Kukui and Burnet's wedding in The Professors' New Adventure!. He later apologized to Ash and his classmates for his actions and revealed that he was demoted and made into Wicke's subordinate. He was then asked to show the group details of the Ultra Guardians, a task force dedicated to dealing with any potential Ultra Beast incidents.

In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, Faba was invited to be a special teacher at the Pokémon School to teach about science. He showed off his new invention, which could shrink objects, allowing them to be placed in Poké Ball-like capsules. Faba attempted to demonstrate it on a blackboard, only for the machine to malfunction, which resulted in Ash, Lillie, and Sophocles getting shrunk. A subsequent accident caused them to be swept away from the school. Whilst the others set off to find Ash, Lillie, and Sophocles, Faba stayed behind to make repairs on his machine with help from the Rotom Pokédex. After Ash, Lillie, and Sophocles were returned to their normal sizes, Faba attempted to demonstrate his machine once more, which resulted in Sophocles growing in size.

In The Shape of Love to Come!, Faba was seen with Lusamine and Wicke, when Ash, Professor Burnet, and Professor Kukui called the Aether Foundation to inform them about Poipole's habit of putting its feelings into its drawings. While Wicke thought it was romantic, Faba was disappointed that it wasn't really "scientific".

In Filling the Light with Darkness!, mysterious dark clouds appeared over Alola, leaving all of the adults tired and without motivation. After doing some research, Faba, Lusamine, Wicke, and Burnet, found out that the cause of the incident was a small Ultra Wormhole that was slowly draining Alola's Ultra Aura. The Ultra Guardians were sent to the Altar of the Sunne, where, under Faba's instruction, the members with Z-Rings combined their Z-Power to fuel his machine that could disperse the clouds and reveal the hidden Ultra Wormhole. In the next episode, he and the others witnessed Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime and Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime emerging from the wormhole. He was later seen arriving at Melemele Island, along with Lusamine, Wicke, and Professor Burnet. While everyone was later watching Lunala recover in the Ultra Guardians base, Faba informed them of Team Rocket's Matori Matrix.

After the Ultra Guardians left for Ultra Space with a fully recovered Lunala in The Prism Between Light and Darkness!, Faba and Professor Kukui volunteered to aid them. On Ten Carat Hill, he and Kukui confronted the Matori Matrix by using their Pokémon to damage the team's airship and prevent them from entering the Ultra Wormhole. Afterwards, Faba and Kukui faced Gozu and his Aggron in battle, but their Pokémon were swiftly beaten. In the next episode, Faba didn't own any more Pokémon, forcing Kukui to sent out his Professor Kukui, who was able to defeat Mega Aggron with its Z-Move. Faba quickly figured out Kukui's secret identity upon noticing the resemblance between him and the Masked Royal, and revealed he was a big fan of the Masked Royal. He and Kukui then witnessed Guardian deities (anime) attacking Team Rocket's airship, after which the team retreated. Faba later joined the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could revert to its List of Pokémon with form differences. After Necrozma had returned to its List of Pokémon with form differences, Faba watched as the Ultra Guardians, Nebby, and Lunala returned to Alola, alongside Kukui, Lusamine, Burnet, and Wicke.

In Turning the Other Mask!, Faba and James participated in a handshake event held by the Masked Royal. Later, the two headed backstage, hoping to get an autograph, only to discover Molayne preparing to change into the Masked Royal costume to cover for Kukui. Mistaking him for an impostor, Faba and James attacked Molayne and tied him up. When Mad Magmar appeared, demanding the Masked Royal face him in a rematch, Faba took on the Masked Royal persona and tried to battle him with Incineroar, only to be easily defeated. Later, after Mad Magmar had been defeated, Faba woke up in the bleachers and tried to resume the fight, only to discover that it was over, however, he then found out that the Masked Royal autographed his prized Masked Royal T-shirt, making him very happy.

In Don't Ignore the Small Stufful!, Faba encountered Team Rocket, who had secured jobs at the Aether Foundation thanks to Wicke. He was suspicious of them at first, but Wicke spoke up for them. Later, Faba discovered a list of potential Pokémon targets that Team Rocket had. He then realized that a Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime was unaccounted for and alerted Wicke. They later found Stufful clinging to Jessie's hair, accused them of stealing Stufful, and didn't believe their excuses after they ran. Faba then watched as Bewear arrived to collect Team Rocket and was reunited with Stufful, who was its child, in the process.

In Beauty is Only Crystal Deep!, Faba revealed a trap to help the Ultra Guardians catch Ultra Beasts (anime), which involved surrounding their Z-Crystals in glue. This resulted in Faba getting stuck in the glue, but he was later freed when Wicke suggested he remove his clothes.

In SM116, Faba helped Lillie and Gladion search the labs at Aether Paradise for information on their father Mohn. It was also revealed that Faba and Wicke were present when Mohn was taken to the other side of an Ultra Wormhole, and that they prevented Lusamine from going after him.

In SM124, Faba joined Lusamine, Wicke, and Professor Burnet in informing the Ultra Guardians about Ultra Beasts (anime).

He will reappear in SM128.

Character
When Faba first appeared, he was rather mean-spirited, constantly trying to grab Nebby. Realizing that his past actions involving Nihilego may be revealed, Faba took measures to prevent it from happening by ruthlessly attacking Gladion and Ash, whilst preparing to wipe Lillie's memories of the incident. He later apologized profusely for his actions and was forgiven. Faba has since become a trusted ally for the Ultra Guardians and the Aether Foundation.

A different side to Faba was shown in Securing the Future!, when he realized that Professor Kukui was in fact the Masked Royal. He revealed that he was a big fan and promised not to mention Kukui's secret identity to anyone.

After arriving, Faba sent some Employees to capture Hapu, the newly appointed Kahuna of Poni Island, while he and the others headed to the Poni Altar. Faba was approached by Plumeria, who demanded that he tell her where Guzma was taken to after being kidnapped by Nihilego. When Faba feigning ignorance, Plumeria revealed she had a Cosmoem that evolved from the Cosmog Guzma received from the Aether Foundation. Faba tried to take Cosmoem by attacking Plumeria, but his Hypno was defeated by her Salazzle. Worried his plans could be jeopardized, Faba had the Employees with him battle Moon, Anabel, and Plumeria so he could sneak off while the others were distracted.
In Play the Melody That Echoes in the Altar, Faba saw the Cosmoem fly out of Plumeria's hands and meet with Nebby, another Cosmoem. Faba pursued the Protostar Pokémon and concluded they were related to Solgaleo and Lunala, which he wanted to use to take over the Aether Foundation. Noticing that Moon, Anabel, and Plumeria had been following him, Faba and the Employees battled them. Faba promised to help Plumeria find Guzma if she helped him take over the Aether Foundation.

Noticing that Moon, Anabel, and Plumeria had been following him, Faba and the Employees battled them. Faba promised to help Plumeria find Guzma if she helped him take over the Aether Foundation.
In Summon the Emissaries of the Moon and the Sun, after being cornered by Anabel, Gladion, Lillie, and Hapu, Faba was captured and taken to Poni Altar. While the others fought invading Ultra Beasts, Sun confronted Faba, demanding that he return the island the Aether Foundation took from his deceased great-grandfather five years ago. Faba revealed the island had already been converted into Aether Paradise, so Sun wouldn't be able to buy back the island even if he collected the proper amount of money. Afterward, Sun was pulled into a wormhole by a Necrozma that appeared from a wormhole.

Later, Faba was cornered by Anabel, Gladion, Lillie, and Hapu. He was captured and taken to Poni Altar, where he was caught up in the battle with a battle against a group of Ultra Beasts that had arrived on the island. Instead of fighting, Sun confronted Faba, demanding that he return the island the Aether Foundation took from his deceased great-grandfather five years ago as soon as he collected the rest of the money he needed to buy it back. Faba revealed that the island had already been converted into Aether Paradise, and the 100 million yen that he jokingly suggested Sun should gather back then wouldn't nearly be enough to return the island back to its previous state. Afterward, Sun was pulled into a wormhole by a Necrozma that appeared from a wormhole. Later, Faba was freed by an Employee, allowing him to escape.
In Adventure in the Dark Dimension, it was revealed that Faba managed to escape after being freed by an Employee. Six months later, he had successfully taken over the Aether Foundation, running it like a dictatorship. At some point, he met Ryuki, a self-proclaimed battling superstar that came to Alola in hopes of fighting the Ultra Beasts. Ryuki was hired by Faba, who agreed to help him in exchange for his services.

In Ray of Light!! Through the Crack in the Sky!, Faba was informed by an Employee that Lusamine had returned to Alola from Ultra Space. Concerned that she may have managed to capture Necrozma, Faba requested Plumeria's assistance in fighting Lusamine. He sent Ryuki to Mount Lanakila and take Moon back with him to Aether Paradise, where she was locked in a cell. Disguised as Moon, Plumeria went to Mount Lanakila in order to assassinate an injured Lusamine. As he gleefully watched Plumeria's attack, Faba was approached by Gladion and Moon, who told him that his plans were over. Faba tricked Ryuki into battling Gladion and Moon, claiming that they were in the way of his goal of facing the Ultra Beasts.

Character profile

Faba is a character first introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, he is a member of Team Rainbow Rocket, being one of their lower members to take over the Aether Foundation. After Episode RR is completed, he is demoted to the position of intern at the Aether Foundation.

Under the alias "F" (Japanese: S), Faba maintains a blog that he uses to post comments about his job and his beliefs on various subjects.

Appearance

Faba's concept artwork for Pokémon Sun and Moon

Two straps on each foot are button together by golden buttons on each side of the rounded straps.

Background and pre-game

Website blurb: The Aether Foundation branch chief sports green sunglasses. They’re his signature accessory! He seems very proud of his position as branch chief.

Main game

The player first meets Faba on Akala Island at Memorial Hill on their way to the Ruins of Life. Trying to get a Team Skull Grunt to stop harassing a Slowpoke, Faba asks for the player's assistance. After defeating the Grunt, Faba, thankful for the player's help invites them and Hau to visit the Hano Grand Resort after they finish their grand trial with Olivia.

Post-game

After becoming Champion, it is revealed that Faba was demoted. Humbled by recent events, Faba is determined to become a new man by integrating himself with the rank and file. Faba requests another battle with the player, and upon defeat, gives the player a Dubious Disc. After that, he will linger in the lobby of Lusamine's mansion on Aether Paradise.

Faba is one of the possible Trainers who will challenge the player for the title of Champion at the Pokémon League. He always appears on the first day of each month.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Faba's role is virtually the same as in Sun and Moon, with only minor changes happening throughout the main story, including an encounter at Ula'ula Meadow.

Faba is a recurring character who appeared in Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. He works at the Aether Foundation. At first, Faba acted antagonistically towards Ash and his classmates, in particular Lillie, but went on to become an ally as the group dealt with the Ultra Beasts.

GOTCHA!

Faba briefly appeared as a silhouette among several other antagonists in GOTCHA!.

In the manga

Pokémon Adventures

In The Truth and Island Kahuna Hapu, Faba led a group of Employees to Vast Poni Canyon. Immediately after, Faba was attacked by Moon and Anabel, a member of the International Police.

Faba being confronted by Sun's Meowth

While Ryuki kept the others busy, Faba attempted to flee Aether Paradise and escape to another region. He was attacked by Sun's Alolan Meowth, Cent, who aimed to make Faba pay for his crimes. Desperately begging for his own safety, Faba pleaded with Cent, promising to return the island he took from Sun's great-grandfather. Faba's intense fear attracted several Nihilego that emerged from a nearby wormhole. Cent was forced to watch as Faba was dragged into the wormhole, his fear turning into happiness as he was affected by the Nihilego's neurotoxins.
