Exeggutor (Japanese: ナッシー Nassy) is a dual-type Grass/Psychic Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Exeggutor is a tall, brown Pokémon that resembles a coconut tree. It has thick legs with two-toed feet. Exeggutor has three to six round, light-yellow heads that are supposed to be coconuts.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Exeggutor, and its pre-evolved form, Exeggcute, are the only known Pokémon that learn Barrage.

Behavior

Each head thinks independently of the others. Because of this, it makes a lot of noise as each head speaks its mind.

Diet

In the anime

This "Walking Tropical Rain Forest" first appeared in The March of the Exeggutor Squad. Ash was hypnotized by Melvin's Exeggcute and was forced to capture several Exeggutor for Melvin. Unfortunately, all of the Exeggutor used Hypnosis on each other and they went on a rampage.

Ash battled an Exeggutor in his first battle in the Indigo League in Round One - Begin. Despite the type disadvantage and the lack of experience, Ash's Krabby defeated Mandi's Exeggutor, evolving into Kingler in the process.

In Misty Meets Her Match, Rudy used an Exeggutor against Ash's Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur managed to defeat it, but it also saved the Coconut Tree Pokémon from falling down a cliff.

An Exeguttor appeared in DP078.

In the manga

Exeggutor makes several appearances in Pokémon Special, one of the most predominant ones being in a rampage due to the Cerise Island battle.

In Template:PSV, Exeggutor is one of the Pokémon Green captures outside the Viridian Gym. It is seen again in Template:PSV as a part of his squad in the Gym Leader faceoff, and again as a defender of Viridian Gym in Template:PSV.

Prior to Template:PSV, Bill's Exeggcute has evolved into Exeggutor. It was seen in Icefall Cave being targeted at by Green, testing out the Vs Seeker.

Trivia

  • Exeggutor is one of the seven Pokémon with seven weaknesses, the others being its pre-evolution, Exeggcute, Snover and Abomasnow, Solrock and Lunatone, and the legendary Celebi.
  • Exeggutor's Gold sprite appears to be an exact mirror image of its Yellow sprite.
  • The description in the anime's "Who's That Pokémon" states that Exeggutor was better off in its pre-evolved form. However, this is not necessarily true unless it was forced to evolve before it learns its more advanced attacks.
  • Up until Generation IV, Exeggutor's back sprites had at least one head clearly visible.
  • Exeggutor and the Pokémon before it (in the National Pokédex) Electrode and Exeggcute all begin with 'E', and can all learn the moves Explosion and Selfdestruct.
  • Electrode, Exeggcute, and Exeggutor are three of six total Pokémon in the original Kanto Dex who are clustered together and have the first letter of their names match without being in the same evolutionary chain (although Exeggcute and Exeggutor are). The other set of three is Seaking, Staryu and Starmie (although again, Staryu and Starmie are in the same evolutionary chain).
  • Two of Ash's Pokémon in the anime have evolved after fighting and defeating Exeggutor. Ash's Charmander evolved into Charmeleon after defeating several Exeggutor, with some help from Melvin the Magician's fire power. Later on, Ash's Krabby evolved into Kingler after defeating Mandi's Exeggutor in the first round of the Indigo League.

Origin

It appears to be based on a coconut tree, or possibly the Japanese monster Jinmenju, a tree that grows human heads (that are always smiling).

Name origin

Exeggutor's name is a combination of egg and executor. The Japanese name is derived from the words ココナッツ kokonattsu (coconuts) and 椰子 yashi (palm tree.)

In other languages

  • German: Kokowei
  • French: Noadkoko - A corruption of noix de coco, meaning coconut.
  • Korean: 나시 Nasi
