Trivia
- Shibirudon and its evolutionary relatives are the only Pokémon to have no weaknesses that are not Ghost/Dark. However, this is due to their ability, Levitate, which eliminates their sole weakness to the Ground type.
- This, by extension, means they are the only Pokémon with no weaknesses that is a single type, and cannot be invincible if given Wonder Guard.
- Also, they are the only Pokémon to have no weaknesses that have evolutionary relatives.
- Shibirudon has the highest base stat total of all Pokémon with no weaknesses.
- Despite being based on marine animals, Shibirudon and its evolutionary relatives are not Water-type, nor can they learn any Water-type moves other than Rain Dance.
- Despite its Pokédex entry claiming it discharges electricity through its teeth, it cannot learn Thunder Fang.
Origin
Shibirudon and its evolutionary relatives may be based on electric eels, lampreys, jawless fish and possibly leeches. The fact that it is Electric-type may be an allusion to bioluminescence.
Name origin
Its name is likely a combination of 痺れ shibire, numbness, and don, a title of respect usually prefixed to Christian names in Spanish and Italian (similar to English lord). "-don" may also refer to the Latin suffix for tooth, referring to its large teeth.
