Gettin' The Bugs Out (Japanese: ヒワダジム!もりのバトルフィールド!! Hiwada Gym! Forest Battlefield!!) is episode 144 of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 20, 2000 and in the United States on March 17, 2001.

Major events

  • Ash defeats Bugsy and earns a Hive Badge.
    • Ash and Bugsy have a 3 on 3 battle.
    • Ash uses Cyndaquil, Chikorita and Pikachu.
    • Bugsy uses Spinarak, Metapod and Scyther.
      • Ash's Chikorita knocks out Spinarak with a Sweet Scent then a Tackle.
      • Bugsy's Metapod knocks out Ash's Chikorita with a Tackle.
      • Ash's Pikachu knocks out Metapod with a Thunder attack while holding onto Metapod.
      • Bugsy's Scyther knocks out Ash's Pikachu after multiple Slash attacks.
      • Ash's Cyndaquil defeats Scyther with a Flamethrower from above while Scyther was using Swords Dance then using Tackle.
  • Ash and Misty each receive a Lure Ball.
  • Brock receives a Heavy Ball.

  • At one point Ash says "I'll save Chikorita for later, and use Pikachu now." Chikorita had just been defeated - he meant to say Cyndaquil.
