  • The other three trainers who left Pallet Town on the same day as Ash have already passed through Celadon City and earned their fifth badge.
  • Ash sent in 100 postcards to receive his official Pokémon League cap. Misty entered the same competition but only sent in one entry, thus not recieiving a hat.

  • The writing on the Poké Ball in the advert is spelt "POCKEMON LEAG". This was not corrected in the dub, possibly as it is hard to read anyway.

Dub edits

  • Professor Oak's poem:
    • English: Everyday it's cake and tea/Just my Pokémon and me
    • Japanese: Eat Pokémon and premonitions/Delicious isn't it?
  • Brock's rice balls are called donuts.
  • When the narrator asks if Ash can catch up with his rivals in the dub, the original had him remembering Professor Oak's words about catching Pokémon.
