Dynamax Bands first appeared in JN012, under the possession of Lance and Leon. Lance used his Dynamax Band to Dynamax his Gyarados during the Pokémon World Championships finals, while Leon used his own band to Gigantamax his Charizard.

In JN013, Leon gave Ash a Dynamax Band of his own so that he could Gigantamax his Pikachu during their battle. After the battle, Leon let Ash keep the band.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

Two Dynamax Bands first appeared in the Sword & Shield arc, under the ownership of Sōdo and Shirudomiria, respectively. Sōdo was first seen using his Dynamax Band to catch a Gurdurr during a Max Raid Battle. It was later revealed that these two Dynamax Bands had been made from Wishing Stars the two Pokédex holders had found a year earlier in the Slumbering Weald.
