The Draconids consider themselves the enemies of the Devon Corporation due to its involvement in the use of Infinity Energy created from the life force of Pokémon. Devon was sent a letter of warning explaining that if they continue to use Infinity Energy, they will be attacked by the Draconids. In response, Steven Stone and his father, Mr. Stone, enlisted the help of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald to help fight the Draconids and avert the crisis approaching their planet.

The Draconids debut in person after Ruby leaves the Sky Pillar with Latios. They are attacked by three Draconid men named Renza (Japanese: レンザ Renza), Jinga (Japanese: ジンガ Jinga),  and Tomatoma (Japanese: トマトマ Tomatoma) who demand to know why they were at the Sky Pillar before attacking. The three Draconids battle Ruby and Latios in the air. They explain that although they are part of the same clan, Zinnia is not affiliated with the other Draconid members. They continue to explain that another person named Aster was actually meant to be the one who would stop the meteoroid alongside Rayquaza, but she has died. In Aster's stead, Zinnia decided to take up the role of stopping the meteoroid, but since she does not have the same powers as Aster the other Draconids question whether or not she can succeed. The battle is interrupted by falling pieces of the meteoroid, which land in the sea below. The three Draconids bid their farewells to Ruby as they make their escape.

Zinnia, one of the Draconid people

The Draconid people (Japanese: 流星 Meteor people) are an ancient tribe of people that live in the Hoenn region.

In the games

The Draconid people first appeared in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The only known members are Zinnia and her grandmother.

Originally, they were a tribe of Dragon-type Pokémon Trainers that lived in Meteor Falls, in a time when meteors constantly showered the area and Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre fought, until the super-ancient Pokémon were stopped by Rayquaza. A thousand years later, when a meteor struck what is now Sootopolis, Groudon and Kyogre were awakened. The Lorekeeper, standing with a rainbow stone, wished for Rayquaza to return. When it returned, that wish allowed Rayquaza to Mega Evolve. After a fierce battle, Groudon and Kyogre returned to the depths, and Rayquaza returned to the sky. Afterwards, the Draconids built the Sky Pillar, where they can summon their Lord Rayquaza. The Sky Pillar is decorated with a mural painted by the Draconids. After a thousand years of peace, they foretold that a meteor would strike once again, and planned to call Rayquaza to prevent it from striking the Pokémon world.

According to a Scientist at the Devon Corporation, the Draconids found that their Key Stones would react with Rayquaza's mikado organ, allowing it to Mega Evolve.
