Trivia

  • Of all the Pokémon that evolve by level alone, Monozu evolves to its final form, Sazandora, later than any other Pokémon, evolving at level 64.
    • Monozu also evolves into its second form at level 50, later then any other Pokémon that evolves by level than can evolve again.
  • Monozu's evolutionary family, along with Bagon's are the only Pokémon that are only in the Dragon egg group.
    • Both are also Dragon-type pseudo-legendary families introduced in odd-numbered generations.

Origin

Monozu and its evolutionary line may be based upon the Lernaean Hydra of Greek Mythology, a beast that grew two more heads in its place if one was severed.

Name origin

Monozu's name probably derives from mono, a Greek prefix meaning one, and 頭 zu, Japanese for head, its full name literally reading "one head".
