This card was released in the English {{TCG|Base Set}}, first originating from the Japanese {{TCG|Expansion Pack}}. This card was included in the {{TCG|Trainer Deck A}}, which was given to prototype {{TCG|Pokémon League}}s before the Base Set's official release. All of the cards in this deck have red borders and "Trainer Deck A" printed on the backs. It was reprinted in the English {{TCG|Base Set 2}} expansion, the Japanese {{TCG|Hanada City Gym|Hanada}}, {{TCG|Kuchiba City Gym|Kuchiba}}, {{TCG|Tamamushi City Gym|Tamamushi}}, and {{TCG|Yamabuki City Gym}} theme decks, and the Totodile Half Deck of the Japanese {{TCG|Intro Pack Neo}}.

This card was released in the English Base Set, first originating from the Japanese Expansion Pack. This card was included in the Trainer Deck A, which was given to prototype Pokémon Leagues before the Base Set's official release. All of the cards in this deck have red borders and "Trainer Deck A" printed on the backs. It was reprinted in the English Base Set 2 expansion, the Japanese Hanada, Kuchiba, Tamamushi, and Yamabuki City Gym theme decks, and the Totodile Half Deck of the Japanese Intro Pack Neo.

It was later reprinted in the English Undaunted expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, originating from the Japanese Reviving Legends expansion.

Alongside Black and White, this card received an erratum to change "by an opponent's attack" to "by attacks".
