Dawn (Japanese: ヒカリ Hikari) is the female player character of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The male counterpart is Lucas. If the player chooses Lucas, she will become Rowan's assistant for the game. Dawn lives in Sandgem Town with her little sister, grandfather, and father - who works as an assistant of Professor Rowan. She is already the Professor's assistant at the beginning of the game. She also demonstrates to the player how to capture Pokémon by capturing a wild Bidoof.

Dawn is also a character from the anime who travels with Ash and Brock in Sinnoh. She is modeled after the game character.

Ms. Berlitz from the Pokémon Special and Mitsumi from Pokemon DP are based off Dawn's design.

Trivia

  • In both English and Japanese, Dawn shares her name with an evolutionary stone. However, it is not the same stone: her Japanese name is the same as the name of the Shiny Stone, not the Dawn Stone.
  • Dawn is 4'6" (140 cm) tall and weighs 75 lbs (34 kg).
  • Dawn and Lucas are implied as a couple by Mars during the Lake Acuity battle: Quote: So what is it? Are you some lovey-dovey couple to the rescue?
