Dark Pulse (Japanese: あくのはどう Evil Pulse) is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation IV. It was TM79 in Generation IV.

Effect

Generation IV

Dark Pulse inflicts damage and has a 20% chance of causing the target to flinch.

Generation V

Dark Pulse can hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles.

Description

Games Description
The user releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts. It may also make the target flinch.
PMDTDS Inflicts damage on enemies within a 1-tile range. It may also afflict enemies with a Cringe status condition, which makes its actions fail.

Darkrai Darkrai crouches together and it extends its arms quickly, making a wave of purple circles come out of its body and hit the opponent, or Darkrai puts its hands together and forms a ball of black and purple circles. Then crouches and spins while holding out one of its hands, making the orb float over to the end of the hand. Finally, it fires a beam of black and purple circles from the orb at the opponent.

  • Dark Pulse, along with other moves with Pulse in their name (Dragon Pulse, Heal Pulse, Water Pulse) and Aura Sphere are the only non-Flying-type moves that can hit a non-adjacent Pokémon. Also, their Japanese names (including Aura Sphere) contain はどう hadō (wave/pulse).
