Dark Blastoise (Japanese: わるいカメックス Bad Kamex) is a Water-type Stage 2 Pokémon card. It was first released as part of the Team Rocket expansion.

Does 30 damage plus 20 more damage for each Energy attached to Dark Blastoise but not used to pay for this attack. You can't add more than 40 damage in this way.

Dark Blastoise does 10 damage to itself. Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all damage done to Dark Blastoise during your opponent's next turn. (Any other effects of attacks still happen.)

Release information

This card was included in the Team Rocket expansion as both a Holofoil and Non Holofoil card, first released in the Japanese Rocket Gang expansion as a Holofoil card. The Non Holofoil print was later reprinted in the Japanese Pokémon Web expansion. The Holofoil print was later reprinted in the Legendary Collection expansion. It was reprinted as a Non Holofoil card in the Turmoil Theme Deck.

Trivia

Although this Pokémon is level 28, Wartortle does not evolve into Blastoise until level 36.

Origin

Hydro Cannon, formatted on this card as Hydrocannon, is a move later introduced in the Generation III Pokémon games that Blastoise can learn. The Japanese name of Hydro Cannon is spelled ハイドロキャノン rather than ハイドロカノン as in the video games.
