Damp (Japanese: しめりけ Moisture) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Eighteen Pokémon can have this Ability.

Effect

In battle

Damp prevents self-destruction and the use of moves such as Self-Destruct and Explosion. If Self-Destruct or Explosion are selected in battle, the attack will fail and the user will not faint. Also, Damp prevents the Ability Aftermath from doing damage when its user faints. Damp affects non-adjacent Pokémon in Triple Battles.

If a self-destruction is prevented by Damp, the following message is displayed: "<name>'s Damp prevents <affected Pokémon> from using <move>!"

Outside of battle

Damp has no effect outside of battle.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

Blast Seed becomes ineffective in the presence of a Pokémon with Damp.
