Daisy (Japanese: サクラ Sakura) is a recurring character who appeared in the Pokémon anime. She is a Water-type Pokémon specialist and is the oldest of Misty's sisters. She and her sisters, Violet and Lily, are also the former Gym Leaders of the Cerulean Gym.

In the anime

History

Pre-series
Young Daisy

According to Misty in Princess vs. Princess, Daisy and her other sisters were always very distant from her, and would usually leave Misty her dolls when they broke.

Over the years, Daisy and her sisters achieved enormous fame and worldwide respect for their aquatic performances. This motivated Misty to separate from her sisters and move away from the Cerulean Gym.

Original series

When Misty left to become a Water Pokémon Master, Daisy and her other two sisters were put in charge of the Gym. However, after Gary and the other two Trainers from Pallet Town defeated them consecutively, they decided to stop accepting battles and to instead perform water ballet shows for the residents of Cerulean City. They were continuing this and neglecting the Gym when Misty stopped by to drop off her Starmie and her Horsea to play at the Gym in The Misty Mermaid.

Prior to Just Add Water, Daisy and her sisters met a young Trainer named Dorian who was inspired by the Cerulean Gym to create his own Gym in Johto.

In Gotta Catch Ya Later!, the sisters called Misty to tell her that they had won a trip around the world because Daisy was third place in a pageant. They made Misty return to Cerulean City so she could take over the role of Gym Leader for them.

Pokémon Chronicles

Daisy reappeared in The Blue Badge of Courage, when the Gym ran out of Badges, Misty talked to Daisy on a video conference about how she could get more. Daisy tells them that they will have to go to Rifure Village to pick up a new batch. Soon after, she hung up the call, going back on her vacation trip.

Daisy returned to the Gym two weeks before A Date with Delcatty. However, Misty is still the official Gym Leader, with Daisy and the other sisters filling in when Misty is away. Once Misty told her and Tracey about meeting Georgio, Daisy decided to help Tracey with repairs at the Gym and later go out to dinner with him.

In Luvdisc Is A Many Splendored Thing!, Daisy invited Tracey over to see the Gym's new Luvdisc, Caserin and Luverin. Butch and Cassidy of Team Rocket went on to nab Luverin for Dr. Namba. However Daisy gave chase in her car, with Misty, Tracey and Caserin, in the back, and later her ready-packed inflatable boat. Later Daisy and Misty used their Luvdisc to defeat the Rocket duo in a tag team effort.

Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire

In Judgment Day!, Daisy appeared in a flashback when Jimmy told Ash and his friends how she had asked him to clean the Cerulean Gym's pool and gotten a Cascade Badge from her as thanks for the help.

During the brief trip that Misty took with Ash, Brock, May and Max in A Real Cleffa-Hanger, Daisy called Misty to warn her of the huge amount of Trainers that were after a Gym battle. Later, she called again to get Misty back to the Gym faster.

Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon

Daisy, along with Violet and Lily, reappeared in a fantasy during the Poké Problem segment of Alola, Kanto!, where the Spectacular Sisters ditched the Gym to go on a trip, leaving Misty in charge of everything. She reappeared again in the same capacity in Alola, Alola!, although Misty revealed she had Daisy and the others take over Gym duties while she was in Alola.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series

Daisy appeared in a fantasy in A Fated Face-Off!. Misty revealed that upon leaving on a new journey after Ash's victory in the World Coronation Series, she left the Gym in the care of her sisters.

Daisy reappeared in a flashback in Must Be Our Heroes and the Witch!.

Personality

Daisy and Misty

Cheerful and somewhat absentminded, Daisy spends more time at the Cerulean Gym compared to Violet and Lily. As such, she does show some prowess, responsibility, and determination as a Gym Leader compared to Violet and Lily, which is especially evident in how she, alongside Misty, spearheaded a rescue operation for Luverin when it was abducted by Cassidy and Butch of Team Rocket, and later defeating them. However, she is still not very responsible as a Gym Leader overall and dislikes battling, as in A Real Cleffa-Hanger, Daisy asked Misty if they could just give Badges to the Trainers instead of battling them. As revealed in Judgment Day!, Daisy give Gym Badges out for free, even when Misty is the official Leader.

Rather Daisy, much like Lily and Violet, is more focused on her looks, with her main ambition in life being acting and modelling. She played the lead actress in the drag racer film "High Speed Hannah". Daisy is also the brains behind the Cerulean Gym's famous underwater ballets, which bring her and her sisters much acclaim.

Unlike her other sisters, Daisy is closer to Misty and her friends, being responsible for encouraging Misty to participate in the underwater ballet and helping Tracey with his research on new Pokémon at the Gym.

Daisy's Luvdisc, nicknamed Luverin (Japanese: ラブリン Loverine), is a Pokémon that was owned for a water show and the only known Pokémon she officially has on hand. At first, Luverin did not show interest in Caserin, but after defeating Butch and Cassidy, she changed her mind.

Daisy appeared in a cameo alongside her sisters in Let's Save Pikachu!!. In this chapter, Ash recalled that Misty left the group to take care of the Cerulean Gym while her sisters traveled the world.

Trivia

  • In the Spanish dub of Pokémon Chronicles, she is mistakenly named Dalia, which is the Spanish name of Daisy Oak.
  • In Pocket Monsters: The Animation, it is mentioned that Daisy, Lily, and Violet's natural hair-colors are actually black, and that their blonde, pink, and blue hair were wigs that they wore during their shows. The same source also reveals that they were themselves orphaned at a young age due to their parents abandoning them thanks to the harsh regulations of being a Gym Leader.
