Synopsis

Template:Incomplete synopsis Dawn decides to start training Mamoswine for the Lilypad Town Contest. The Twin Tusk Pokémon uses Ice Shard, and, having never competed before, ends up hurting itself, with Pikachu and Piplup laughing. Feeling humiliated, Mamoswine runs off into a nearby forest forcing Dawn to follow. There, Dawn and Mamoswine meet the ruler of the forest; a wild Tangrowth that begins using Absorb on Mamoswine and other wild Pokémon to steal their energy. However, Tangrowth mysteriously leaves behind a berry to heal the Pokémon it just attacked. Ash and Brock catch up to Dawn and Mamoswine eventually, after dealing with Verona, a Forest Ranger who says there is a wild Pokémon in the forest (Tangrowth) that steals other Pokémon's energy. Once inside, Tangrowth meets with Ash and Brock and uses Absorb on Ash's Grotle. Once night falls, Dawn finds herself lost in the forest, when she meets other wild Template:Type2 Pokémon, a Bellsprout, a Cherrim, a Seedot and a Shroomish. Tangrowth appears too, and Mamoswine, still angered from Tangrowth's attacks, wants to battle it.

Ash, Brock, and Verona show up, and Verona sees that the tree they are standing behind was split in half, probably due to a recent thunderstorm, meaning that the tree got struck by lightning. Ash realizes that if the tree goes, then the rest of the forest goes too. So, all the Pokémon use Growth on the tree, but realize that there isn't enough energy in them. And then, Team Rocket shows up to attempt to capture all the wild Pokémon. James claims that it is three times as absorbent as their normal machines. Mamoswine tries using Take Down on it twice, but it doesn't work. James then claims that it is ten times harder to wreck than the normal machines. Mamoswine is then revealed that it is able to use Hidden Power. Mamoswine uses it, easily defeating Team Rocket. So in the morning, Tangrowth is found using Absorb on Grotle. Grotle uses Synthesis, but Brock points out that Grotle can only use Synthesis so many times. So, Mamoswine willingly lets Tangrowth use Absorb on it. Tangrowth leaves behind a Sitrus Berry and signals that it has enough energy to try to use Growth again. So, once again, all the Pokémon use Growth on the tree, and it is restored back to its original form. Tangrowth thanks Mamoswine, who now has his full confidence back!

Trivia

  • This is the 600th episode of the entire anime if Holiday Hi-Jynx and Snow Way Out! are not counted.
  • The opening theme changes to a remix, High Touch! 2009. As with Together2008, the animation footage is completely unchanged from the previous opening.
  • Darkrai and Giratina are replaced by Palkia and Dialga, respectively, in the start and end of the Japanese preview clip for the next episode.
  • The dub's title is based on the phrase, "Promoting healthy growth".
  • With the exception of the first few seconds, Dawn's Mamoswine remains outside of its Poké Ball throughout this episode.

Errors

File:DP134error.png
The coloring error
  • In one scene, Piplup's crown is the same color as its forehead.
  • One of the Pokémon seen using Absorb is a wild Bellsprout. However, Bellsprout cannot learn Absorb in the games by any means.
  • Near the beginning of the episode, there is a scene showing Piplup on Dawn's head. However, it was not there before or after this scene.
  • When Ash and Brock are speaking to Verona, the orange part of Brock's jacket is colored the same color as his shirt.
