In All About Arceus IV, Arceus begins to create Dialga alongside Palkia and Giratina in the Sinjoh Ruins while Arceus was under the control of Archer. Archer had Arceus create the trio in order to have the strongest possible team for Giovanni's return to Team Rocket, and with Arceus under the Four Generals control the Creation trio was forced to obey them as well. Attempting to stop their creation, Gold and Crystal launch Frenzy Plant Blast Burn Hydro Cannon at the trio, destroying the energy being used to create them. Arceus pauses to take in the Plates and then continues the creation process and quickly finishes the Pokémon. Harboring memories from ancient times, Dialga prepares to fight the Spatial and Renegade Pokémon. Trying to avoid the destructive conflict, Giovanni, Pryce, and Lance come to stop the trio and send them outside the Sinjoh Ruins where they belong. Pryce starts the battle with his Swinub, having it attack Dialga with a breath of ice. Dialga quickly responds with Roar of Time, which has no effect on Pryce and Swinub, as the two were previously trapped in the voids of time. After taking the battle outside the ruins, Dialga calms down and begins to understand the circumstances, seeing the humans as its allies. After Arceus calms down, Giratina escapes into the Distortion World and Dialga and Palkia departed from Johto, being spotted by Cynthia and her Cynthia.
In All About Arceus IV, Archer used Arceus to create Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina at the Sinjoh Ruins in order to create the strongest possible team for Team Rocket in hopes of having their former leader, Giovanni, return. Attempting to stop their creation, Gold and Crystal had Exbo, Megaree, and Silver launch Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant, and Hydro Cannon, respectively. While the attack successfully blew away the energy used to create the three Pokémon, it only temporarily delayed the process while Arceus paused to absorb the Plates back into its body. Once Arceus was complete, the creation process proceeded, allowing all three Pokémon to be fully formed.

In All About Arceus VI, Dialga and Palkia proceeded to battle against Giratina, as they harbored memories of their past selves. Worried that the three's clash could bring about the end of the Johto and Sinnoh regions, Pryce, Lance, and Giovanni teamed up to stop the three dragons. Pryce used his Swinub to battle against Dialga. Due to his experience with controlling time, Pryce was unaffected by Dialga's Roar of Time.

In All About Arceus IX, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina were successfully transported out of the Sinjoh Ruins. With the danger over, Dialga and Palkia forced Giratina back into the Distortion World. Afterward, they departed from Johto to the Sinnoh region.

Dialga appeared in a flashback in Omega Alpha Adventure 18, where Maxie and Archie explain how they left the Distortion World.

In Creeping Away from Cradily, Dialga was summoned by Cyrus at Spear Pillar alongside Palkia using the Red Chains, one of which was an artificial duplicate. Cyrus orders the two dragons to fight one another in order to create a new world. The two immediately collide in combat, causing time and space to distort. The Sinnoh Gym Leaders soon confront Cyrus and destroy one of the chains, halving Cyrus's control over the two. Shortly after, Dialga and Palkia are attacked by Diamond and Mamoswine, ramming the two with his tusks. Palkia retaliates, using Spacial Rend to send Diamond and Moo to another space at Spear Pillar. Giving them no time to resume fighting, Pearl has his Buizel, Tauros, and Diglett assault the dragons with a combination attack. Diamond and Moo quickly rush back and freeze to two with a powerful ice breath. Dialga responds with Roar of Time, sending time back a few seconds, and assaults Diamond and Moo before they can attack. Diamond and Pearl then attack the two with their entire team. Once Reg begins fighting, the two are easily subdued by the Colossal Pokémon, preventing the black hole created by the fighting from getting any larger. After hearing Diamond's explanation of time and space, the two stop fighting each other. Using the Red Chain, Cyrus has them continue fighting, with Reg having trouble restraining them. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum use all of their Pokémon to attack the two and break them free of the Red Chain's restraint. The two quickly reverse the distortion of time and space. Soon after the battle, Dialga and Palkia are pulled into the distortion world by Giratina.
In Creeping Away from Cradily, Dialga, alongside Palkia, was summoned to the Spear Pillar by Cyrus with the power of the Red Chains. In Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia I Cyrus ordered the two dragons to fight one another so that the clash between time and space would bring about the new world he desired to create. As the two clashed, time and space began warping around Mt. Coronet before spreading to the rest of Sinnoh. Eventually, the Gym Leaders of Sinnoh arrived in order to stop Cyrus's plans by destroying the Red Chains. Despite Cyrus's interference, the Gym Leaders successfully destroyed one of the chains, effectively halving Cyrus's control over them. Angered by this, Cyrus attacked the Gym Leaders, defeating them.

In Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia III, Diamond and Pearl teamed up to try and fight Dialga and Palkia in order to stop their battle. Despite their best efforts, Dialga and Palkia's ability to control time and space completely negated their attempts. In Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia IV, Regigigas appeared to stop Dialga and Palkia's clash, preventing the hole in space-time they created from growing in size.

While Regigigas kept Dialga and Palkia at bay, Cyrus asked Diamond why he refused to accept the perfect world Cyrus envisioned. Diamond explained that Cyrus has no right to push his idea of what time and space should be on the rest of the world. To Cyrus's shock, he found that Dialga and Palkia actually stopped fighting and listened to Diamond's speech. Cyrus then used the remaining Red Chain to get Dialga and Palkia to fight again. Realizing that with only a single Red Chain, Cyrus can't fully control both dragons, Platinum told Diamond and Pearl to attack once an opening appeared. Once Cyrus lost control over Palkia, Diamond and Pearl had both their teams launch a simultaneous attack on Dialga, freeing it from Cyrus's control as well. With both dragons freed, they use their powers to defeat Cyrus, knocking him unconscious.

In Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia V, it is revealed that the hole in space-time was actually a portal to the Distortion World. Once Charon's machine interacted with the portal, Giratina used its tendril-like wings to grab Dialga, Palkia, and Cyrus before dragging them into the Distortion World with it.

In The Final Dimensional Duel I, Dialga is shown with Palkia in the Distortion World, unconscious and encased in a crystal-like prison. In The Final Dimensional Duel VIII, Diamond's Kit and Cyrus's Honchkrow attack the crystals with Night Slash, destroying it and freeing Dialga and Palkia. Dialga then joins the fight between the Sinnoh Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. As Giratina and Charon escape the Distortion World, Dialga teams up with Diamond to stop them. After Giratina is stopped by Flint's Magmortar and Volkner's Electivire, Dialga and Palkia stare at the Renegade Pokémon. Giratina then heads back to the Distortion World and closes the portal. The two then head back to Spear Pillar.
In The Final Dimensional Duel I, Dialga and Palkia are revealed to have been trapped in a stone prison by Giratina. With Dialga and Palkia trapped, Giratina became able to leave the Distortion World, allowing it cause havoc on the outside world.

In The Final Dimensional Duel VIII, Diamond's Kit and Cyrus's Honchkrow were used to free Dialga and Palkia from their prison. Dialga and Palkia then joined in the fight between the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon of Sinnoh. During the clash, Charon and Giratina fled and flew off to escape from the Distortion World and close the portal once they left, leaving the others trapped inside. Dialga teamed up with Diamond and chased after the two in order to stop them. Once Charon and Giratina escaped to Sunyshore City, the two were defeated by Cynthia's Cynthia's Draco Meteor.

After Charon was arrested by Looker, Giratina attempted to rise and continue the battle, only to be defeated by Volkner's Electivire and Flint's Magmortar. With Dialga and Palkia looming over it, Giratina decided to cut its losses and willingly returned to the Distortion World. Dialga and Palkia then returned to the Spear Pillar.

Personality and characteristics
Personality and characteristics
Dialga is a strong willed and powerful Pokémon, surviving through many though fights against other Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Dialga was also easily able to handle fighting against both Diamond and Pearl's Pokémon. Dialga harbors many memories from ancient times, having an intense hatred for Giratina for its past destruction. Dialga wishes for peace and will step in when necessary to ensure that others do not create destruction. Dialga is also very rational, being able to see a situation for what is it without letting anger decide its actions.
Dialga is a powerful Legendary Pokémon capable of controlling time, allowing it to manipulate the flow of events to its will. It is a righteous Pokémon that fights together with Palkia to prevent Giratina from leaving the Distortion World.

Because it has control over time, it is able to alter the speed of anything it wishes, such as during its battle against Diamond and Pearl while it was controlled by Cyrus. However, those who have gone through time portals are able avoid this as shown during its battle against Pryce at the Sinjoh Ruins. It is able to fly using the fin like structure on its back.

Because it has control over space, it is able to alter the direction and placement of objects, such as during its battle against Diamond and Pearl while it was controlled by Cyrus; as well as having relocated several places with others, such as Bebe's house being transported right next to Haley's Ranch. However, those who have gained control over the direction of their attacks are able to counteract this, as shown during its battle against Lance at the Sinjoh Ruins. It is able to fly using the fin like structures on its back.

In The Final Dimensional Duel I, Giratina enters Eterna City from a portal in the Distortion World, changing into its List of Pokémon with form differences and landing atop the statue of Dialga and Palkia, crushing it. Giratina then proceeds to go on a rampage, destroying the city. Pearl and Chatler soon come to stop the Renegade Pokémon, using their aerial abilities to their advantage. Charon then has his Slowking attack with Trump Card, shocking Giratina as it cries out in pain. Giratina then dives into its shadow with Shadow Force and attacks Pearl when resurfacing. Diamond pushes Pearl out of the way, taking the attack instead and falls unconscious. Seeing its Trainer defeated, Reg leaves the area. Reg quickly returns with Diamond's five appliances, and the two team up to attack Giratina. Giratina then charges at Reg, and the Colossal Pokémon quickly grabs Giratina and throws it into the ground and summons a gigantic bundle of snow and throws it on top of Giratina. Seeing itself outmatched, Giratina retreats into the Distortion World.
In The Final Dimensional Duel I, Giratina landed in Eterna City after emerging from the Distortion World. Upon exiting the portal, it transformed its List of Pokémon with form differences and crushed the statue of Dialga and Palkia under its feet. Hearing the commotion, Diamond and Pearl came to see what was going on, only to end up in a battle against Giratina. During the battle, Giratina fought against Diamond's Reg, who proved to be a powerful opponent for it.

In The Final Dimensional Duel II, Diamond pushed Pearl out of the way of Giratina's Shadow Force, taking the hit meant for Pearl in the process. The attack seemingly killed Diamond, which angered Reg into attacking Giratina with a large bundle of snow. Seeing itself outmatched, Giratina reverted to its Origin Forme and retreated back to the Distortion World. Afterward, Diamond's body faded away, where it eventually made its way into the Distortion World.

In The Final Dimensional Duel VI, Giratina battles against Flint's Magmortar and Volkner's Electivire in the Distortion World. The two Pokémon attack with a combination of Lava Plume and Discharge, but are quickly taken out when Giratina returns the damage to them with Dragon Breath. Giratina then joins the fight between the Sinnoh Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Charon then has Darkrai put all the Pokémon asleep except Giratina and commands Giratina to attack the sleeping group with Dragon Pulse. Before it can finish the attack Shaymin gives all of the Pokémon Insomnia with Worry Seed and the group quickly attacks Giratina and Charon. Charon and Giratina then retreat and attempt to escape the Distortion World. As the two exit the portal they are immediately attacked by Cynthia's Garchomp's Draco Meteor and taken out. After Charon is arrested by Looker, Giratina prepares to ambush Platinum from behind and is stopped by Flint's Magmortar and Volkner's Electivire. History

HeartGold & SoulSilver arc

In All About Arceus IV, Archer used Arceus to create Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina at the Sinjoh Ruins in order to create the strongest possible team for Team Rocket in hopes of having their former leader, Giovanni, return. Attempting to stop their creation, Gold and Crystal had Exbo, Megaree, and Feraligatr launch Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant, and Hydro Cannon, respectively.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

Dialga appeared in a flashback in Omega Alpha Adventure 18, where Maxie and Archie explain how they left the Distortion World.

Diamond & Pearl arc

Platinum arc

Once Charon and Giratina escaped to Sunyshore City, the two were defeated by Cynthia's Garchomp's Draco Meteor.

Dialga is a powerful Legendary Pokémon capable of controlling time, allowing it to manipulate the flow of events to its will. It is a righteous Pokémon that fights together with Palkia to prevent Giratina from leaving the Distortion World.

Worried that the three's clash could bring about the end of the Johto and Sinnoh regions, Giovanni, Pryce, and Lance teamed up to stop the three dragons. Giovanni used his son's Ursaring to battle against Giratina. While Giovanni proved to be a strong opponent, his disease began acting up, preventing him from continuing the fight. Seizing the opportunity, Giratina attempted to attack Giovanni, but was stopped by Silver.

In All About Arceus IX, Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia were successfully transported out of the Sinjoh Ruins. With the danger over, Dialga and Palkia forced Giratina back into the Distortion World.

Diamond & Pearl arc

After Paka and Uji were transported to the Distortion World, Giratina would often chase down the two bodyguards and toy with them. In Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia VI, Giratina uses its tentacles to drag Dialga, Palkia, and Cyrus into the Distortion World.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

Giratina appeared in a flashback in Omega Alpha Adventure 18, where Maxie and Archie explain how they left the Distortion World.

Platinum arc

In The Final Dimensional Duel I, Giratina landed in Eterna City after emerging from the Distortion World. Upon exiting the portal, it transformed its Altered Forme and crushed the statue of Dialga and Palkia under its feet.

In The Final Dimensional Duel VI, Giratina battled against Flint's Magmortar and Volkner's Electivire in the Distortion World. The two Pokémon attacked with a combination of Lava Plume and Discharge, but were quickly taken out when Giratina returned the damage to them with Dragon Breath.

In The Final Dimensional Duel IX, Giratina joined in the fight between Sinnoh's Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Though it, Charon's Heatran, and Darkrai proved to be a powerful combination, the interference of Shaymin caused Giratina to accidentally attack Charon.
