Cranidos (Japanese: ズガイドス Zugaidos) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It is resurrected from a Skull Fossil and evolves into Rampardos starting at level 30.

Biology

Physiology

Cranidos is a gray, dinosaur-like Pokémon. It is physically based on Pachycephalosaurus. The back half of Cranidos's body is blue and it has a short tail. Cranidos also has stubby arms, but it can still attack with them. Cranidos has a hooked beak, red eyes, four spikes and a dome-shaped head that is colored blue.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Cranidos's main attacking prowess involves charging head-first into its opponents. Cranidos can also use various elemental attacks, but is much weaker with those kinds of moves.

Behavior

Habitat

Cranidos once lived in dense forests, but has been extinct from the wild for 100 million years and only exists via being cloned from fossil samples, and descendants of said clones.

In the anime

A Cranidos appears in both Shapes of Things to Come and A Gruff Act to Follow under the ownership of Roark. In Wild in the Streets!, Roark's Cranidos evolved into Rampardos.

In the manga

Cranidos appeared in the fifth and sixth rounds of the Diamond & Pearl chapter Pokémon Special. A Cranidos is owned by Roark, which he sends out against Platinum in her gym match.

Origin

Cranidos is based off of a Pachycephalosaurus

Name origin

Cranidos's name is derived from cranium, referring to its thick skull. Zugaidos's name comes from the word 頭蓋骨 zugaikotsu, cranium.
