Coumarine City in the anime

Coumarine City first appeared in XY057. Here Ash and his friends they met Ramos after Clemont accidentally crashed into his gate. A snowstorm was caused by an angry Vanillish and Vanilluxe who heard the wails of a Vanillite, who was captured by Team Rocket, Ramos was able to stop the snowstorm with his Jumpluff using Sunny Day and his Sunflora removed the snow with Solar Beam, afterwards Team Rocket captured the angry Vanillish and Vanilluxe as well but were defeated by Ash, his friends and Ramos's Pokémon. The three Pokémon went off peacefully.

In XY058, Ash had a Gym Battle against Ramos and his Jumpluff, Weepinbell and Gogoat and won with his Fletchinder, Hawlucha and Frogadier.

In XY059, Ash and friends visited a vow tree during celebrations and gave each other presents, Ash also tried to capture a Dunsparce but failed since he left his Poké Balls.

In XY060, Serena, along with Shauna, Jessie and other competitors entered the Coumarine City Pokémon Showcase, Serena and Jessie lost in the first round but Shauna was able to win, after losing Serena decided to change her look by shortening her hair and changing her outfit. Afterwards they left for Lumiose City for Ash's Lumiose Gym Battle with Clemont.

Trivia

  • Coumarine's Japanese motto is 海辺と 高台が 連なる 街 "The city where shore meets bluff".
  • An NPC in the house where the player can obtain a Poké Toy will play a remastered version of An Unwavering Heart (Japanese: れぬい) from Pokémon Black and White's soundtrack. The song is called How About a Song? "An Unwavering Heart" in the English release of Pokémon X and Y's soundtrack.

Origin

Coumarine City's real-life counterpart is likely Le Havre, the largest port in northern France.
