Construction: Melody Box is the name of a constructable Pokémon-based application for the e-Reader. Using a large variety of compatible cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, a player can play various songs on the e-Reader with different effects applied to the music and add different backgrounds.
The Construction: Melody Box game requires at least one of three different categories of cards: a "music" card, which will contain a simple song (which could be from the Pokémon games, a classical piece, etc), a "sound" card, which will change the way the song is played (examples include making the song sound like it's being sung by a Chikorita or played on an organ, etc), and a "pattern" card, which changes the background pattern displayed when the song is played. While only one of these is required to start the application (a generic song will be played if only a sound or pattern is scanned), players will get the most out of the Melody Box if they use a combination. The e-Reader does not save scanned song combinations, a player will have to re-scan each card again once they exit the application.
When the song is being played, a Clefairy will appear in front of the background conducting. Clefairy can be moved up, down, left, or right to change the pitch or speed of the song.
Cards compatible with Construction: Melody Box can be found in the Expedition Base Set, Aquapolis, and Skyridge expansion sets, and the Japanese McDonald's Pokémon-e Minimum Pack.
