Chrysa (Japanese: キクナ Kikuna) is a recurring character who appeared in Pokémon Journeys: The Series. She is one of Professor Cerise's assistants.
History
Pre-series
In JN057, it was revealed that Chrysa was quite insecure when she became a researcher. One day, prior to a conference she had to attend to present her research, she lost the research data, leading to her unable to deliver the presentation. This incident left her depressed until later, she ended up meeting a Psyduck, who had given his scarf to her, and his Trainer. After returning back the scarf to the Duck Pokemon, the three made a snowman and had a snowball fight before taking a photo. Thus meeting ended up making her forget about her insecurity and move on with her goals, with the photo being kept in Chysa's house, used to motivate herself whenever she was feeling down.
Chrysa became a fan of Psyduck, leading her to buy merchandise based on it whenever she found any.
Pokémon Journeys: The Series
Chrysa debuted in Legend? Go! Friends? Go!, where she was present during the opening of Cerise Laboratory. She later saw Professor Oak and Delia off as they returned to Pallet Town.
In Ivysaur's Mysterious Tower!, she revealed the presence of an outbreak of Ivysaur in Vermilion City.
In The Sinnoh Iceberg Race!, after Ash and Goh brought a frail Piplup they found at Vermillion Port, Chrysa managed to locate the Penguin Pokemon's Trainer, Lauren, who was from Snowpoint City.
In Best Friend...Worst Nightmare!, when Chloe was preparing to go to school, was intercepted by Ash and Goh's excitement of their showing her their newly caught Pokemon, but Chrysa arrived at that moment, reminding her that it was time to go to school and giving her the opportunity to escape the boys' excitement. While walking towards the main room of the laboratory, Chrysa and Professor Cerise were surprised by the darkness inside the lab before they were scared by Ren's Magnemite who directed them to its Trainer's location. Chrysa and Cerise were shocked when they found an unconscious Ren after he was knocked out by a menacing Gengar, with Chrysa worried about his well-being. Later, upon discovering Gengar fighting with Chloe's Yamper, Ren and Chrysa deducted that Yamper wanted to follow Chloe's commands and became glad upon the duo's victory.
In A Chilling Curse!, Chrysa was the second to be attacked by the same Gengar, alerting Ash and Goh to her location. Later, she was shocked to hear that Cerise knew that the Gengar had been residing in the building before it was turned into the laboratory, though they were not surprised by how Cerise ignored the Shadow Pokemon's attempts to drive him away. Unbeknownst to everyone, Ash was possessed by Gengar, with Chrysa becoming puzzled after Ash drank water from a flower vase he picked from the table.
In JN047, Chrysa accompanied Chloe and Professor Cerise in the Vermilion City Pokémon Eating Contest, demonstrating a lot of knowledge of the competition. She is quite a fan of a Blaziken and his Trainer who often participate in the competition.
Character
Chrysa has a calm personality. Despite this, she reveals in Betrayed, Bothered, and Beleaguered! that, like Chloe, she was always very jealous of her younger sibling.
During the Pokémon Eating Contest, she showed a more competitive and heated side, especially when her favorite competitor decided to drop out. Compared to Ren, Chrysa serves as a kind of counterpoint, as when he talks about the difficulties of training a Feebas and she interrupts him by encouraging Jinny to continue looking for the right way to train her Pokémon. One of her favorite Pokémon is Psyduck.
