Trivia

  • On the Diamond and Pearl sticker book, one appears on the page with the tiny square stickers, despite the fact that it is not native to Sinnoh.
  • In Generation II games, Chinchou's fins didn't have the same color as its body, but instead to its bulbs.

Origin

Name origin

Chinchou's name is a play 提灯 chōchin, lantern. Its Japanese name is also a corruption of chōchin. Also, the チョウチンアンコウ chouchin-anko is the name of the footballfish, a deep-sea fish similar to Lanturn.
