Cheryl's Mothim (Japanese: モミのガーメイル Momi's Gamale) is a Pokémon owned by Cheryl. He was voiced by 川上とも子 Tomoko Kawakami in English and Japanese. As a Burmy, he was voiced by 阪口大助 Daisuke Sakaguchi in Japanese and Sarah Natochenny in English.
History
Mothim was first seen as a Burmy in Some Enchanted Sweetening! when he was lured to a Sweet Honey Tree which Cheryl put Honey on. When he appeared, Cheryl checked his gender by having her Chansey use Attract on him. After catching Burmy, Cheryl explained how she was a treasure hunter and needed a male Burmy to evolve into a Mothim. She then shown Ash and his friends that she had three Wormadam and explained that she needed a Mothim to assist her in finding the Amber Castle.
Throughout the episode, Cheryl was trying to get Burmy to evolve, but Burmy lost all of its battles. He then got stolen by Team Rocket and when battling against Team Rocket, Burmy evolved.
In the next two episodes, Mothim followed the scent of Honey and eventually found Amber Castle after leading the group back to the same tree it was caught on and into a unpleasent encounter with a Gloom.
