Dollar first appeared in the Sun & Moon chapter, battling against a group of Team Skull Grunt’s Salandit. It easily blocked all of their attacks and finished them off with Pay Day.
Prior to the start of the Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Cent was one of three Alolan Meowth owned by Sun's great-grandfather. After his death, Faba arrived and began his plans to convert the island into Aether Paradise. Afterward, Guzma switched in his Golisopod, which proceeded to attack Cent relentlessly. When Golisopod's trash-covered claws dirtied the coin on Cent's head, it flew into a rage and furiously defeated Golisopod, allowing Sun to move to the next round.

Unsure if he was worthy of taking the Island Challenge, Kiawe challenged Sun to a battle. Sun agreed and used Cent to battle Kiawe's Kiawe. Cent was initially bewildered by Marowak's ability to manipulate its flames, but managed to land a hit after Sun told Cent to ignore the flames. In Defeat and the Commander of the School of Fish, Cent was used in Sun's first trial, which was to fight against the Totem Pokémon of Brooklet Hill, a List of Pokémon with form differences Wishiwashi. Due to its immense size and strength, the Totem Wishiwashi was a tough opponent. Cent managed to defeat it after Sun instructed it to hit Quarter, the main Wishiwashi located in the left eye. After dodging its attacks, Cent closed in on Quarter's location and attacked it. The attack forced the Totem to separate back into its component Solo Form Wishiwashi, giving Sun the victory.

In Truth and the Mastermind Behind Team Skull, Cent, along with the rest of Sun's team, helped rescue Moon from an attacking Xurkitree at Po Town. In An Urgent Task and the Capture of an Ultra Beast, Cent was used alongside Anabel's Mismagius to battle a Blacephalon that had been summoned to Po Town. Cent managed to distract Blacephalon long enough for Mismagius to stun it with Phantom Force, allowing Anabel to try and capture it, only to fail. Blacephalon attempted to counterattack with its Mind Blown, but was blown away by Tapu Bulu's Whirlwind, saving everyone in the process.

After returning to Alola in Tyrant!! The Fiendish Man!, Sun encountered Necrozma again. Sun sent his team to battle it, but Cent ignored the Prism Pokémon, instead choosing to walk away. Sun explained to Lillie that because they failed to buy the island back, Cent no longer felt obligated to stay with him. He then asked Lillie to take Cent to Memorial Hill and set him free.

In Finale!! The Battle Against the Other Dimension!, Cent arrived at Aether Paradise, where he found Faba in the middle of trying to flee to another region. Cent ambushed Faba, intending to make him pay for his crimes. Desperately begging for his own safety, Faba pleaded with Cent, promising to return the island. Faba's intense fear attracted several Nihilego that emerged from a nearby wormhole. After being forced to watch Faba be dragged into the wormhole, Cent left, dejected that he was unable to get his revenge. Later, he returned to Sun.

Cent is often seen with a bored expression on his face and tends to be sluggish and lazy at whatever he does. While he is a competent battler, he only puts an effort into battling when he knows it will help Sun save up the money to buy back his great-grandfather's island. Due to being descended from royalty, Cent is very prideful and will fly into a violent rage if the coin on his head is dirtied. Cent and Dollar have a mutual dislike for one another; if sent out at the same time, they will immediately begin fighting each other instead of the opponent.

Cent and Sun have never truly gotten along, nor has he gotten over Sun's great-grandfather's death, explaining why he hasn't been able to evolve. He only followed Sun to collect the money to get his former owner's island back, but when that plan failed, Cent lost his sole reason to follow Sun around and obey his orders. Despite this, he returned to Sun following Faba's disappearance into an Ultra Wormhole.

History

Cent while under Sun's great grandfather's ownership

Prior to the start of the Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc, Cent was one of three Alolan Meowth owned by Sun's great-grandfather. After his death, Faba arrived and began his plans to convert the island into Aether Paradise. When Sun protested to this, Faba jokingly suggested that Sun could buy the island back if he made 100 million yen. Sun took this statement seriously and made it his goal to get the island back and realize his great-grandfather's dream of creating the Poké Pelago. Sun asked the three Meowth for help, with two of them refusing. Only Cent remained, joining Sun's team as a result.

Cent first appeared in The Grand Entrance and Delivery Boy Sun, where he was used to battle a pair of Team Skull Grunts that had attacked Moon. He faced the Grunts' Salandit and easily defeated them with Pay Day. Later that day, Sun and Moon were attacked by Tapu Koko. Sun sent out Cent and Dollar to battle Tapu Koko, but the two immediately started fighting each other instead. After getting serious, Dollar kept Tapu Koko distracted with Ember, allowing Cent to strike with Pay Day. Though the attacks seemingly did nothing, Tapu Koko fled, leaving behind a Sparkling Stone in the process.

In The Party Crasher and Guzma the Destroyer, Cent was used to battle Guzma in the second round of an Iki Town festival tournament. After Dollar was defeated by Guzma's Masquerain, Cent was sent out to replace it. Cent won by covering Masquerain's wings with water from its own Water Sport, leaving it unable to fly and vulnerable to be hit by Night Slash. Afterward, Guzma switched in his Golisopod, which proceeded to attack Cent relentlessly. When Golisopod's trash-covered claws dirtied the coin on Cent's head, it flew into a rage and furiously defeated Golisopod, allowing Sun to move to the next round.

Cent and Sun

In The Final Match and a Surprising Finale!, Cent was used to battle Gladion in the final round of the tournament. It went up against Gladion's Type: Null, but was easily defeated, forcing Sun to switch it out for Dollar.

In Going Ashore and Neighboring Akala Island, upon arriving on Akala Island, Sun met Lana, Kiawe, and Mallow, the Trial Captains of Akala. Unsure if he was worthy of taking the Island Challenge, Kiawe challenged Sun to a battle. Sun agreed and used Cent to battle Kiawe's Marowak. Cent was initially bewildered by Marowak's ability to manipulate its flames, but managed to land a hit after Sun told Cent to ignore the flames. The battle was called off after Kiawe decided to call his boss at the Thrifty Megamart and apologize for leaving work without telling anyone.

Cent battling the Totem Wishiwashi

In Defeat and the Commander of the School of Fish, Cent was used in Sun's first trial, which was to fight against the Totem Pokémon of Brooklet Hill, a School Form Wishiwashi.

By combining their attacks, they managed to knock Moon from Xurkitree's grasp, though Xurkitree immediately retaliated by smacking them away onto a nearby car.

In An Urgent Task and the Capture of an Ultra Beast, Cent was used alongside Anabel's Mismagius to battle a Blacephalon that had been summoned to Po Town. Cent slashed at Blacephalon and appeared to decapitate it, only for the Fireworks Pokémon to reveal it is capable of safely detaching its head at will.

Cent confronting Faba

In Darkness!! The Mysterious Claws of Necrozma!, Cent was used alongside the rest of Sun and Moon's teams to assist Lunala against Necrozma, but was stopped by Lusamine's Naganadel.
