Finding Key Items in this manner is rare: most are given to the player as part of the storyline. The Card Key is only in [[Pokémon Red and Blue Versions|Pokémon Red, Blue]], {{v2|Yellow}}, {{2v|FireRed|LeafGreen}}. It does not exist in {{game|Ruby and Sapphire|s}}, but can be found in the coding of {{game|Emerald}}. However, it is not obtainable.

The manager gives the Card Key to the player in order to open a door on the third level of the tower while under siege by [[Team Rocket]].
