The captain is an unnamed character of the day who appeared in Hoenn Alone!. He works on a boat that travels from the Seafoam Islands to Littleroot Town. He is the final character of the day to appear in the original series.
He is very kind, and likes to get involved in his job, helping passengers on his boat with any problems they have—even to the extent of battling Team Rocket for Ash with his Machoke in the food store of his ship when Pikachu, his only Pokémon at the time, was stolen.
After a tank at the bottom of the ship broke, he was forced to stay behind to fix it while Ash went off with Officer Jenny to get Pikachu back. He promised to have it fixed by nightfall, and warned that if Ash wasn't back by then they would have to leave without him.
