Burning Confrontation (Korean: 불꽃 튀는 대결 Bulkkot Twineun Daegyeol) is the name given to the second extension set of cards from the DP Series of the Korean Pokémon Trading Card Game. The set continues to feature Pokémon LV.X for the Korean Card Game and introduce Generation IV overall. Still not providing Pokémon of the Psychic-type, Fighting-type, Darkness-type, or Metal-type, this set of cards focuses on strengthening the five types included within Start of an Adventure and its four accompanying Random Decks.
Information
Burning Confrontation is the second Korean extension set of cards after the Pokémon Trading Card Game went into hiatus until the middle of 2010. Released June 17, 2010, this extension set continues to introduce both new Generation IV Pokémon and new Pokémon LV.X in the Korean Card Game. In order to provide players with more meaningful options for their limited card pool at the time of release, it focuses exclusively on the Grass-type, Fire-type, Water-type, Lightning-type, and Colorless-type, saving the other four types for the third extension set: Collapse of Time & Space.
Included in the Burning Confrontation set are 40 cards originating from the early half of the English Diamond & Pearl Series. The set pulls its Ultra-Rare Pokémon LV.X focus from the Mysterious Treasures expansion, but contains a majority of cards from the Diamond & Pearl and Secret Wonders expansions. Only Magmortar LV.X and Electivire LV.X are included, with Lucario LV.X being utilized later as it falls outside of the extension's type focus.
The only Legendary Pokémon included in the set are the Colorless-type Latias and Latios from Great Encounters, which, as Dragon-types, utilize only the four types of Energy released thus far in the DP Series. Supporter cards and one Stadium card premier in this extension, after not being included in Start of an Adventure. Despite being released during Generation IV, Magmortar, Electivire and Munchlax are the only Sinnoh natives to be included in the expansion, though the two former as the set's Ultra-Rare cards. These two Pokémon as well as the two Legendary Pokémon are elevated to Holofoil status, a trait that Latias, Latios, and Magmortar lacked in English (Magmortar dropping its Holofoil quality from the Japanese Magmortar vs Electivire Deck Kit release).
