Brodie (Japanese: バンナイ Bannai) is a character in the Pokémon anime.

History

Brodie in Team Magma

Brodie debuted in the episode Unfair Weather Friends, disguised as Millie, a scientist at the Weather Institute who was supposed to be collecting data on Groudon. Team Aqua tried to steal the data directly, unaware Millie was really Brodie. When Shelly threatened to harm Bart and the other scientists at the Institute, Brodie revealed himself as a Team Magma Agent and escaped with the information the Institute had gathered on the Legendary Pokémon.

Brodie also appeared in The Ribbon Cup Caper. He disguised himself as various people, including Officer Jenny, in order to steal the Ribbon Cup for the Hoenn Grand Festival. When confronted by the real Officer Jenny, Brodie willingly gave up the Ribbon Cup because upon closer inspection "it wasn't valuable enough," and flew away once again. He hasn't been seen since.

Character

Disguised as a Lady, most likely the Trainer from the introductions to Jirachi: Wish Maker and Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Brodie was a member of Team Magma (or mercenary on their payroll) before its dissolution, after which he became known as "Brodie The Phantom Thief". He is also known as "The Man of a Thousand Faces," having perfected the art of disguising himself in order to get his goals accomplished.

Pokémon

This listing is of Brodie's known Pokémon:

Brodie's Ditto
Ditto
Ditto is Brodie's main partner and always sits on the shoulder of its Trainer. Ditto (during the time that Brodie was disguised as Millie) is used as bait to trick the members of Team Aqua using its skills and transforming into Castform. Ditto is seen to be very strong as it easily took out two of Team Aqua's Crawdaunt and May's Combusken.

Ditto's only move is Transform.
Ditto has also used BubbleBeam* and Crabhammer* via Transform.

Debut Unfair Weather Friends
Brodie's Golbat

Golbat's only known move is Haze.

Trivia

  • The mark under Brodie's eye changed color: in Unfair Weather Friends it is green, while in The Ribbon Cup Caper it is orange.
  • Brodie's Japanese name, Bannai, possibly derives from Bannai Tarao, a fictional Japanese detective who can take on seven different faces.
  • Brodie's English name comes from the word 'roadie,' due to his rock band-like appearance.
