(Japanese: ウォーグル Wargle) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Washibon starting at level 54.

Biology

Physiology

Wargle is an eagle-like Pokémon, sporting red, navy, yellow and blue coloration. Its face is blue, its beak is yellow, and the cere above it is blue. There is a dark red, three-pointed crest above the cere, from which extend three feather plumes; additionally, there are other, similar plumes present on the sides of Wargle's face. Along with the feathery "mane" on the back of its head and neck, all these features have been described to give the impression of a feathered headdress. Wargle's back and the upper sides of its wings are dark red, with the undersides of both being navy-colored. There are spiky feathers on the upper portions of Wargle's large yellow talons, with the talons possessing black nails and an arrangement of three in front and one in back. Its tail feathers are mainly red, with a yellow stripe and blue tipping.

Gender differences

Wargle is a male-only species. Its female counterpart is Barujiina.

Special abilities

Wargle, like most other bird-like Pokémon, learn a multitude of wind-based moves, as well as many aerial attacks. They are uncommonly strong, and can easily fly while gripping an automobile in its talons. This strength shows through in Wargle's ability to learn attacks that might seem unusual for a bird Pokémon, such as Rock Slide and Shadow Claw. Their agility and gracefulness in flight is truly a spectacle to behold.

Behavior

Heedless of danger, Wargle fights fearlessly and relentlessly. They are very courageous, as evidenced by its species name as the "Valor Pokémon." They also seem to have a strong flock dynamic, fighting without pause to protect their friends and family. It is said that the more wounds it has, the more respect it gets from its comrades.

Habitat

Wargle live in rugged, mountainous habitat and around gorges. They are also found in areas by water.

Trivia

  • Wargle can be seen as a counterpart to Barujiina: Both are dual-typed Flying Pokémon that are described as eagles, are members of a two-stage evolutionary family who evolve from their basic form at level 54 and have a stat total of 510. They are both also members of a single-gender species (Wargle is exclusively male, whereas Barujiina is exclusively female). Their movesets are also substantially similar, sharing the same number of start moves and level-up moves, with all of their level-up moves occurring at the same levels.
  • Wargle's shiny form may be a reference to the two main political parties of the United States: red for the Republican Party and blue for the Democratic Party.

Origin

Wargle is based on an eagle, specifically a Bald Eagle. It also has feathers on its head that resemble a war bonnet and the crest of a Philippine Eagle. Its color scheme and basis suggest it is inspired by the United States of America, the flag of which is red, white and blue, and the national symbol of which is the bald eagle. It also resembles a Native American warrior.

Name origin

Wargle is derived from war or warrior and eagle.
