Trivia

  • Boldore is very similar to Graveler. Both are Rock-type Pokémon with a base stat total of 390 that evolved at level 25 and can evolve again by trading.
  • Boldore is the first Pokémon since Generation I to evolve via trade with no extra conditions.
  • Boldore is also the only Pokémon with three actual legs.

Origin

Boldore appears to be based on a geode. It also has some aspects of a crab.

Name origin

Boldore seems to be a stylized combination of boulder and ore, although it may have simply been intended as a corruption of "boulder". It may also be derived from bold, meaning outstanding or large. Gantle appears to be a combination of 岩 gan (rock) and the English word mantle.
