Trivia

  • Each of Blitzle's abilities give it an immunity to a certain type and increase a certain stat.

Origin

Blitzle seems to be based on a zebra. It may also be based on two of Helios's steeds that pulled his chariot—Bronte and Sterope—which are Greek for thunder and lightning, respectively.

Name origin

Blitzle comes from blitz, meaning "lightning" in German. The latter part of its name may also use the word little. Shimama is a corruption of the Japanese word シマウマ shimauma, meaning "zebra".
