As Green took more of a secret agent-type approach to battling the Elite Four during the Yellow, she and Blasty do not appear until relatively late into the arc compared to most main characters save Red. He was first shown subduing Bill's Vulpix when Green used Ditty as a key to break in again (breaking the promise she made to Professor Oak) and tried to break into the Pokémon Box system to check on the then-missing Red's exploits since he disappeared. However, this would quickly be interrupted (though Green at least found out he hadn't died) when Bruno's mind-controlled Hitmonlee came busting in, forcing Green to retreat with Blasty's water flight maneuver. This wouldn't last long, though, as it eventually ran out of water to blast itself with, and had to forcibly defeat the Fighting Pokémon. When Green arrived in Cerise Island, and feigned getting stuck on Lorelei's ice cuffs, Blasty shot water out from his cannons again, but was not seen fighting.

This Pokémon spent an unknown number of chapters as Squirtle and between 2 and 16 chapters as Wartortle.

Blasty (Japanese: カメちゃん Kame-chan) is one of the Pokémon owned by Green in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

History

Blasty as a Squirtle being stolen

Green initially stole Blasty as a Squirtle from Professor Oak's Lab. However, he had already evolved into a Wartortle by the time he debuted in Wartortle Wars, being used to try to Surf away, only to be stopped by Red's Snor. He evolved into Blastoise sometime before Sabrina took over Silph Co and battled the three main characters.

As a Wartortle

As Green took more of a secret agent-type approach to battling the Elite Four during the Yellow arc, she and Blasty do not appear until relatively late into the arc compared to most main characters save Red.

In the GSC arc, Green lent Blasty to Red to assist him on his journey on Mt. Silver, as she alluded she wouldn't need it for aerial transport (now that she had captured the legendary birds).

In the FRLG arc, Blasty inherited the ultimate water attack, Hydro Cannon, directly from Kimberly, without having to clear the Jump Path, Catch Path, and Battle Path to master the skills. With this new power, and the support of his newly evolved teammates, he was able to help free Mewtwo's M2 Bind and later tried to stop the Team Rocket Airship from falling using Hydro Pump with Blue's Rhydon and Golduck and Silver's Feraligatr and Kingdra. It was Mew that ultimately cushioned the fall, however, and before seeing much more action Blasty was petrified with the five Pokédex Holders and almost all their Pokémon.

After being unpetrified, though, he was able to put its Hydro Cannon ability to good use by destroying Guile Hideout's giant sea Kyogre, though it is worth noting that unlike the previous uses of the technique, he only utilized the cannons on its back to fire the move (just like when it uses Hydro Pump), rather than using its mouth as well.

Personality and characteristics

Just like Green, Blasty too has a tricky personality. After Wartortle's evolution into a Blastoise, he became one of the major powerhouses on Green's team. He also became capable of aerial transport by withdrawing his limbs into his shell and blasting water out from his cannons to propel himself forward.
