Bestow (Japanese: ギフトパス Gift Pass) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation V.
Effect
Generation V
The user transfers its held item to the target. It will always fail if the user has no held item or is holding Mail. It also fails if the target already has a held item or is behind a substitute. Bestow bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the opponent is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly. It is blocked by Protect and Detect.
Items given away in Trainer battles return to the original Pokémon after the battle, but transfers are not reversed after a wild battle.
Bestow will fail if it would give to (the target) or take from (the user): Giratina a Griseous Orb, a Pokémon with Multitype a Plate, or Genesect a Drive.
Generation VI onward
It will hit the target even if it has used Protect, Detect, or Spiky Shield, but will fail if the target is protected by Crafty Shield.
Bestow will fail if it would give to (the target) or take from (the user): a Pokémon its corresponding Mega Stone, Kyogre a Blue Orb, Groudon a Red Orb, or a Pokémon with RKS System a Memory. It will also fail if the user has a Z-Crystal.
Bestow can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if a certain move (Celebrate, Covet, Happy Hour or Wish) was used in the prior turn.
If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Bestow, the user's Speed stat raises two stages.
