The Fight Area, the main destination for Trainers.

The Battle Zone (Japanese: バトルゾーン Battle Zone) is a separate island to the northeast of the mainland of the Sinnoh region, nearest to Veilstone City on the mainland. It appears to be based on the southern part of the Russian island Sakhalin. It is considered a sub-region of Sinnoh and is implied by some living on the island as a different region altogether, not unlike how the Sevii Islands are considered a separate region from Kanto and Johto. Six of Sinnoh's 30 routes, numbered 225-230, are on the island, with both Route 226 and Route 230 being water routes.

Three towns are located in the Battle Zone: the Fight Area, which holds the entrance to the Battle Tower in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and the Battle Frontier in Pokémon Platinum; the Resort Area, where one can find the Ribbon Syndicate; and finally the Survival Area, home in Platinum to the Battleground and a move tutor's home.

The island is dedicated to battling, especially in its largest settlement, the Fight Area. The Sinnoh Battle Tower is located just north of the Fight Area in Battle Park. The island also has two smaller settlements, the Survival Area and Resort Area. Much like the Sevii Islands, the Battle Zone has no Pokémon League. The northernmost tip of the island is where Stark Mountain, home of the legendary Heatran, lies. This is similar once again to the Sevii Islands as one may find Moltres at Mt. Ember there.

In Pokémon Platinum, the Battle Zone is home to Sinnoh's Battle Frontier, which takes up the area where the Battle Park was in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
